Kulay was a Canadian-Filipino alternative hip hop group that first formed in 1991. It was originally formed by Philippines-born Boom Dayupay and his
girlfriend Jeannie Oakman, with the third member Radha Cuadrado joining in 1993. Kulay had some underground success throughout 1995 and 1996,
with their main sound being compared to Arrested Development and Digible Planets, although they ran into its first extreme bump when Oakman
passed away in September of 1997 from a fatal epileptic seizure. Although nearly disbanding, she was later replaced by Angel Jones, and Kulay went
on to have some international success and recognition throughout the remainder of the 1990's. However, Kulay ended up disbanding in 2000, and the
members went on to embark on their own respective solo careers.
