Mcbaise is the Psychedelic Pop project curated by french musician Matthew Bessudo who is also known as a pretty established illustrator: Mcbess. Mcbess has also described the project as "yacht-rock", saying “That’s the goal. It’s like a tropical-day-at-the-beach type of feel. That’s what I was trying to get at.” Characteristics of the music often feature unconventional songwriting, jazzy chord harmony, retro synthesizers, and very involved bass work.
On the band’s name, and its similarity to his own illustrator alias, he had this to say: "Well I started it kind of as a joke, because I’m an illustrator and Mcbess is my illustrator name. So I decided to go 'Baise' because of the baseline I use – and it means kiss in French – it was just a stupid play on words."
