Ultravox

Ultravox had its roots as a glam-meets punk outfit leaded by Bowie-esque frontman, John Foxx, whose obessions with futurism and sc-fi was eventually matched by the groups growing use of synthesisers. The band saw a major shake up in 1979 when Foxx left and Midge Ure replaced him as singer/songwriter, with the new lineup's debut LP, Vienna, expanding upon the synth traces of the previous records and turning into a sleek synthpop sound geared for the New-Wave charts.
