Utopia Banished is a Melodic Death Metal band from New York, US. They play a unique brand of Melodeath on par with more established and better funded acts. They formed in February of 1998, but didn't release their first full album until 2004. They didn't have a record label so they may have sold their first album at live shows even before then. People believe that this group got their name from a 1992 full-length album by Napalm Death called 'Utopia Banished', but in fact the group came up with the name on their own, believing that there can never be a true utopia in this world...
