Melodic death metal and Gothenburg have been going strong for well over 20 years since In Flames and their fellow peers' inception. Bands have come and went by toying with this sound, but the genre has been steadfast thanks to the determination of the founding bands, particularly In Flames. As one of the very first Gothenburg bands, In Flames carries a lot of weight with their name, which has become infused with their sound. Combining the lead guitars and heavy melodic style of Swedish melodic death with experimentation, In Flames has never needed to resort to rehashing and recycling. Every album is new and innovative. With their modern sound, they have taken a new route with elements ranging from death metal to industrial, yet never stray from their flare from heavy metal with memorable melodies and the ambition to break down boundaries. Jesper Strömblad is a founding and key member of the band who left in 2010 due to personal reasons. In Flames released Siren Charms in late August 2014, marking another significant change in the band's style. [http://inflamesofficial.bandcamp.com/] « hide |
