Rx Bandits

Based in Seal Beach, California, this band has mixed ska, punk, reggae, progressive rock and bits and pieces of everything else to form their sound. They started out amidst other California ska-influenced bands such as Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Their first two releases:'Those Damn Bandits' and 'Halfway Between Here and There' were heavily third wave ska-influenced. After being signed to Drive-Thru Records, they released a more serious album entitled 'Progress.' This was the first step of the band's evolution. Their first two releases:'Those Damn Bandits' and 'Halfway Between Here and There' were heavily third wave ska-influenced. After being signed to Drive-Thru Records, they released a more serious album entitled 'Progress.' This was the first step of the band's evolution. The lyrics on 'Progress' are very political, opening a window into the band's future. With the release of 'The Resignation', the Rx Bandits have proven their musical genius. This album is filled with spine-tingling lyrics, amazing guitar harmonies, and fantastic horn riffs. This album is truly a work of art mixing reggae, rock, and progressive rock. The album was recorded live to capture the band's amazing live performance. The band has since left Drive-Thru Records and are now self-financed through Matt Embree's record 'community': MashDownBabylon(MDB) Records. The Rx Bandits' live performances are unforgettable. Their set is filled with improvisation, audience participation, and pure love and energy. They have recorded and released a new album for their 2006 summer tour (available in stores in October) entitled '...And The Battle Begun.'Showing their musicianship demonstrated on 'The Resignation,' this band never ceases to pour out pure talent. With their live shows becoming better and better every year, their fan base growing larger with new listeners and old fans falling more in love with the band, and the continuation of evolution with every new album release, the Rx Bandits will certainly go down in history as one of the most honest bands to ever form.Their next album is due out in July 2009, entitled "Mandala", and is greatly anticipated as a progression of their unique sound. « hide
