DeVotchKa was formed in 1997 in Denver, Colorado. Taking their name from Anthony Burgess's novella "A Clockwork Orange"
they are one of the most original bands out there, members Theo Urata, Jeanie Schroder, Shawn King, and Tom Hagerman fuse
together all sorts of the most seemingly random influences (along with the ones that everyone already has). Through their
multi-instrumentation, the group dabbles in styles of Southwestern, Ennio Morricone, mariachi, Eastern European, gypsy, and

Originally the backing band at a burlesque house, the band released their first album "Supermelodrama" in 2002, "Una Volta" in
2003, "How it Ends" in 2004, and an EP of covers "Curse Your Little Heart" in 2006. They also contributed to the soundtrack of
the Sundance hit "Little Miss Sunshine", performing the score by Mychael Danna. « hide |
