KRS-One is a highly influential emcee, born and raised in South Bronx, NYC. He originally got his first break in the mid-80's as a member of Boogie Down Productions, with fellow emcee D-Nice and Scott La Rock as the DJ and producer. When Scott La Rock was murdered in 1987, the lineup in Boogie Down Productions changed constantly, with only KRS-One as the core original member. In 1992, after five years of practically being on life support, Boogie Down Productions disbanded, and KRS-One went solo. He has since been acclaimed as one of the most profound afrocentric lyricists, and is also one of the most outspoken emcees of the hip-hop community.
