Black Witchery was formed in 1996 out of the ashes of the US black/death band Irreverent (formed by Impurath in 1990). The sole purpose of Black Witchery's existence is, as they themselves say, to crush the current weak minded black metal circle of pathetic losers with no mercy, and to exalt the eternal True Satanic Elite with blasphemous hymns of power, darkness, evil, and hatred. Originally performing as a two piece band (with Impurath on bass and vocals, and ex Irreverent member Darkwolf on drums and guitar) under the name Witchery, a promo and demo were released but soon thereafter, Darkwolf left the band due to musical differences. Impurath then summoned Tregenda (guitar) and Vaz (drums) to form the current unholy trinity in 1999, and re-named the band Black Witchery, as the new line up was far more intense and brutal, leaving the melodic sound of Darkwolf's style behind them. The band released an impromptu Ep called "Summoning of Infernal Legions" in 1999, and after that, their famous "Hellstorm of Evil vengeance" split in 2000 . This split showed the band's fury and dark brutality, and earned them a great deal of respect as being one of the few true black metal bands the US has spawned. The band then entered the studio to record their sinister debut, titled "Desecration of the Holy Kingdom". After completing said debut in 2001, the band continued their deathmarch of live attacks through US and Europe, gaining many rabid fans and heretic supporters. The band was then signed by Osmose Productions, who released their second full-length, "Upheaval of Satanic Might", in 2005. The album followed the path of it's predecessor, but displayed the band in an even more violent and barbaric fashion, with more traditional hymns, unrelenting darkness, and savagery.Black Witchery released a DVD called "Blasphemous Onslaughts 2005-2008" in 2009, and are currently working on a new album. « hide |
