Blind Illusion is an American metal band formed in San Francisco in 1979. Initially playing a traditional metal style, their 1988 debut album The Sane Asylum would feature more of a progressive thrash sound. Produced by none other than Metallica's Kirk Hammett, it is considered a cult classic thanks to featuring the talents of Possessed guitarist Larry LaLonde as well as bass player Les Claypool, both of whom would go on to found the highly acclaimed alternative metal band Primus. The band split in 1989, though eventually reformed with a completely different lineup in 2009.
