Incredible Expanding Mindfuck (often shortened I.E.M.), is a solo project from Porcupine Tree and No-Man multi-instrumentist and singer Steven
Wilson. I.E.M. grew out from Wilson's interest in experimental music; krautrock, noise music, funkadelic and Sun Ra's "cosmic jazz" are cited
among others. Therefore, the project's discography consists of almost entirely instrumental material inspired - yet not intended to be nostalgic -
by those types of music. Wilson has not returned to the project since 2001, although two compilation albums and several re-issues were
released after that.
