MX-80 Sound were a post-punk band originally from Bloomington, Indiana.Their sound was centered around Bruce Anderson’s slashing, trebly guitar riffing and Rich Stim’s deadpan, oftenindecipherable,mumble. As a five-piece (with two drummers), they twice released a seven-song 7-inch EP (subtitled Hard Pop fromtheHoosiers) on local labels, impressing Island Records enough to sign them. But the following album, Hard Attack, wasneverreleased in the United States and attracted little attention aside from some critical raves.
