Redhead Kingpin and the F.B.I. were an R&B-rap group from NYC that first formed in 1987. The group is best known for their 1989 single “Do the Right Thing”, which reached number 8 on the Billboard US Rap chart, and number 13 on the UK Singles chart. It was also featured in the 1991 Wes Craven film The People Under the Stairs, which revived a bit of the song’s popularity. Despite the single’s success, the group would never be able to capitalize on it, and after releasing 9 singles and two albums, Redhead Kingpin and the F.B.I. ended up disbanding in 1992.
