Ruben and the Jets was a band from Los Angeles that existed from 1972 to 1974. Inspired by the album Cruising With Ruben & the Jets by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Ruben Guevera, who formed the band, asked Zappa for permission to use the name. Zappa allowed it, produced their first album For Real!, wrote the song If I Could Only Be Your Love Again and played guitar on the song Dedicated to the One I Love. Zappa band members Motorhead Sherwood and Tony Duran played in the band as well. Ruben and the Jets only released two albums before splitting up.
