Sharan Q was an alternative/pop rock band from Japan. Sharan Q helped skyrocket frontman-turned-producer, Tsunku, to vast popularity and recognition, and were one of the biggest Japanese rock bands in the 90's. Their flamboyant image also helped cross visual kei into pop superstardom, which would usher in newer poppy visual bands like Sophia, Glay and L'arc-en-Ciel. They initially broke up in 2000, and reunited in 2006 with the release of their newest original single, "Aruiteru", which achieved moderate success. Aside from occasional reunions, Tsunku also kept busy as the head of the humongous Japanese pop corporation "Hello Project!”, while the rest of the band members worked for the label behind the scenes. Since Tsunku was diagnosed with esophagus cancer and had his vocal chords removed in 2015, Sharan Q then ended up quietly ceasing activities. « hide |
