Biography:
Stockholm was formed in the summer of 2009 among four friends who shared the same tastes and appreciation of music. The
group began piecing together a small set of original songs, built around previous ideas from individual members. Soon after,
completely original ideas began to emerge that eventually lead to some of Stockholm‘s best critically-received songs.
With a well-rounded sound of fresh new material, the group took to the live Orlando scene to show just what they could
achieve. The then four piece were well received locally, however, front-man Chris Arter played not only keyboard, but rhythm
guitar as well. Feeling rhythm guitar demanded a full-time member, the group set out to gain one fifth and final member to fill
the spot; guitarist Olie Thomas joined the band, an English musician who had recently relocated to the U.S.; the quintet, and
the sound, was finally whole.
After completing the roster of the group, a flood gate of new songs flowed from the group. Stockholm wrote many of its fan-
favorite songs in back-to-back succession during this time, such as This Love, Hush Hush, and Bad by Design. Performing as
the newly minted five-piece, the group quickly grabbed the attention of audiences and the press alike, and soon became one
of the highest critically acclaimed bands in Orlando. The buzz paid off, and Stockholm was selected to showcase at the
prestigious 2010 Florida Music Festival after only six months of existence as a band.
Coming off the high of such quick recognition, Stockholm recorded their first release, an EP titled Don’t Stop Now in 2010,
which gained them praises such as, ‘one of the top bands to watch’ from IndieRockCafe. The group felt the release needed to
be complete, and recorded a demo version of their full length (now in production), called Hush Hush. The final studio version
of Hush Hush was renamed "Eyes In The Dark" and is available on iTunes and all online distributors as of June 19th 2012.
Stockholm continues to perform throughout the country, and is currently completing their first full-length release of Eyes in
The Dark. Although while the group is frequently either recording or performing on the road, Stockholm still calls Orlando,
Florida their home.
PRESS
"Stockholm is a fresh new emerging band to the indie music arena. With influences including The Killers, Coldplay, U2, and
Explosions in the Sky, they wasted no time creating sinfully catchy songs for their always growing fan base. Stockholm
formed in late 2009 and quickly caught the attention of the local industry; only a short time after the formation of the group,
they showcased at the 2010 Florida Music Festival. Stockholm continues to explore their bright future."
- aXis Magazine (Jul 07, 2010)
"Stockholm has it right. They entertain, they pull you in with infectious sound, they tell you a story with conviction and
sincerity, and they get out in melodic and grand fashion. I don’t anticipate a long stay in Orlando for these guys, so get out
locally and see them, and definitely grab this cd. "
- Xander Rich, OrlandoBands.com (Aug 09, 2010)
"One of the hottest independant bands from Orlando, this is a concert that is not to be missed!"
