In 2005, after the disbandment of Number One Gun, NOG drummer Jordan Mallory and multi-instrumentalist friend Chris Keene formed their own two-man-band named Surrogate and were signed to Tooth & Nail Records by early 2007. They streamed an EP in 2006 before releasing their first full-length, Love Is for the Rich in 2007.
