The Gits were an influential underground punk band from Seattle. Formed in 1986, the group soon developed a passionate cult following, and theiraggressive sound and their outspoken lyrics from frontwoman Mia Zapata made the group an important group in the early development of the riotgrrrl movement. The Gits officially split in 1993, following the tragic murder of Zapata.
