Total was formed by Matthew Bower after the break up of Pure as a noise and industrial oriented project. It has been discontinued and revived throughout the years, and has at times received contributions from members of Ramleh and Ake, as well as from John Godbert. Eventually the project was retired in favour of Bower's newer solo moniker Sunroof!
