Unwound was a noise rock band based in Tumwater. Formed in 1991, the band consisted of Justin Trosper (vocals, guitar,songwriting), VernRumsey (bass), and Brandt Sandeno (drums). Unwound's main influences included Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Wipers,Black Flag, Can, Mission ofBurma, Hüsker Dü, Nation of Ulysses, Flipper, and Gang Of Four. Unwound's early work was characterizedby intense vocals, jagged guitarlines, and more complex drumming than the band's peers. In 2001, the band released their firstdouble album and last album as a group,Leaves Turn Inside You. Unwound broke up in 2002.
