written by Dan Byron, are arranged during this month. The debut concert takes place on Dec 1,
2006 in Laptarie (Bucharest).
The debut album, Forbidden Drama, structured in acts, like a theater drama, was finished in
September – with Victor Panfilov as Musical Producer, mixing & mastering at Real Sound Studio,
Bucharest. The album is manufactured and distributed by the Romanian label A&A Records.
Forbidden Drama has been released on October 12, 2007, at club Fabrica, Bucharest, followed by a
month-long national promotion tour (Forbidden Tour).
In January 2008, Gyergyay Szabolcs quit the band due to personal reasons and was replaced on
bass by Jacob Glick, followed by Vlady Sateanu in 2009.
byron’s music is hard to define; it’s art-rock / adult-alternative with a lot of influences from different
musical areas, mostly blues, progressive rock and jazz. We7.com describes it as 'intellectual rock'.
All lyrics are written in English and touch aspects of modern man’s condition.
byron has appeared playing live on several shows on national television TVR2, and has received
substantial airplay on Romanian radios such as Radio Guerrilla, City FM, Radio Total, Kiss FM
(reaching #1 on the weekly top of Radio Total with the song Essential Piece).
"Acoustic Drama" is the first unplugged concert released on DVD of a Romanian band. It’s a
recording of a special byron concert that took place on April 3, 2008, at Teatru 74, in the Butchers’
Bastion in Târgu Mureş, a concert with old and new songs rearranged in an acoustic manner
benefiting from the extraordinary participation of Alexandru Andries and Paula Seling. There were no
later overdubs in the studio, the acoustic experience had to be as natural as possible. This DVD,
developed under high audio-video quality, contains 13 songs, a photo gallery, the video for Blow Up
My Tears (directed and shot by Oleg Mutu, edited by Victor Panfilov) and many “making of”
features, 83 minutes of quality music that has strictly adhered to the definition of the word
“unplugged”: seven different guitars, banjo, mandolin, cajon, upright bass, acoustic bass, a string
quartet and piano. Ten songs from the Forbidden Drama album and two songs from A Kind of
Alchemy. Among these, a new version of Far Away, with the remarkable participation of Alexandru
Andrieş - performance and translated text - and Paula Seling’s special voice on Watercolor.
In October 2009 the band released their awaited second album, A Kind Of Alchemy. The release
marks an evolution in the band’s sound, with blues, progressive and funk influences, employing a
wider diversity of instruments. The 14 new songs came in a 7 inch wide illustrated book, as the
graphic aspect is just as important as the music.
In June 2010 byron decided to use a Creative Commons license on their two studio albums, albums
