Record Player Photos, Download The BEST Free Record Player ...

It’s been a long, long year of compiling tracks — some obvious selections from albums I rated very highly, some one-off singles, and others that were merely gems buried on practically unheard-of releases. Those who know my tendencies on Sputnik may be aware that while I certainly have my genre preferences (indie/folk/rock/pop), I’ll listen to practically anything. This list is at least somewhat reflective of that, with selections from all over the genre spectrum. Rather than ranking all 100 tracks — which (1) is always way more difficult than it seems and (2) I unfortunately don’t have the kind of free time to accomplish — I decided to alphabetize the songs with the hope that you’ll pop this on shuffle (or play it alphabetically if you’re built for 6 straight hours of sowingcore) and either relive some of the best moments of 2024 or otherwise discover music that you otherwise wouldn’t have known existed. They’re not the definitive objective “top” 100 songs, but simply my favorite 100 of the year. Give it a spin and feel free to discuss in the comments anything you love, hate, or have discovered thanks to this list. Happy holidays, and see you all in 2025!

This might not be your exact cup of tea, but it should still top the Pitchfork list.

Oh it's in alphabetical order

Was hoping for a countdown

Oh, and I forgot to mention it's limit 1-per-artist. I always do that to prevent a playlist from being like 33% comprised of my top 5 albums.

I also couldn't include "Glitz" from the Cindy Lee album since it's not on Spotify, but I highly recommend it.

Big If on a best of 2024 list is a grey area. If we could them then they could easily be in my top 15 albums. Also love that you included the new Low Roar single. Sowing just HAD to include Brand New in a 2024 list and I love it. Massive year for poppy making it on your list 3 times with the features on bad omens and knocked loose.

Awesome stuff Sowing.

@YoYo: Ironically, that was one of the few songs I really liked from that album. None of it was bad, but it was very sleepy.

@Doof: Yep, I got into that Tindersticks album a bit. Need to give it a few more listens, I didn't keep with it like I should've despite really enjoying it.

@Feather: Yeah, I did consider leaving off the Big If song, but I decided to take the cheap way and call it a 2024 track since that's technically when it was released. I just really wanted people to hear it, lol. Kind of the same thing with the new Low Roar single. Anyway, that WHY? song actually is nice! Beach Boys vibes abound. And yeah, Poppy had herself a YEAR.

@Hawks: Thanks! Not enough metal for you I'm sure ;-)

Never enough metal my friend lol.

Fair haha. That's how I feel about indie/folk.

Although my AOTY was decidedly post-hardcore and Poppy got me into 2024 metalcore in a big way.

Oh I've always loved folk too but been getting into it even more in a huge way this year. Same with ambient and drone. I still jammed tons of metal this year but I mixed in other stuff at a rate I never have before tbh. Feels good to expand.
