somewhat different but it isn't a huge leap. it has less frantic riffs and more atmospheric sections. overall its about the same length, but it has longer songs.

Hmm more atmospheric sections. Might check it out, haven't checked out any new DM since Immo's last album.

Listening to the new Deicide. So far it's really thrashy. Has the same "Angel of Death" feel a lot of Stench of Redemption songs had. A lot of double vocals, too. A lot of the choruses seem to have someone shrieking behind Benton, which sounds pretty cool.

No divorce metaphors so far either, just a lot of

If you didn't like the first one they put out you won't like the album. I'm not sure how I feel about it other than it's definitely better than their last one but not as good as Stench of Redemption. It's pretty repetitive.

What other doomy oldschool dm bands were around in '91? Especially with that quality of recordings.

It's not that they're obscure that I like them, it's that they're really really good.

Like maybe I missed a bunch of doomy oldschool bands but I never really heard anything of the sort aside from maybe (Mental Funeral) Autopsy and Cartilage (two of my favorites)... and those are both post '91.
