My first death metal song was something by Death, I think.

But I started with like melodic death metal crap like In Flames. Although they used to be good.

I downloaded Kataklysms [I]Road to Devastation[/I] a while back, apart from one awesome riff off [I]Like Angels Weeping the Dark[/I], that album was pure crap.

My first Death Metal song was Zombie Ritual, I think. Either that or Cold Hate, Warm Blood by Cryptopsy. First DM album was [I]Piece of Time[/I].

[I]Cannibal Corpse[/I] and [I]Obituary[/I] for me. I didn't even listen to metal back then, I just wanted to see how extreme music sounds like. I hated it of course :p A couple of years later I heard [I]Death[/I] and the rest is history.

I didn't even really like death metal at first. I got into grind and then I started liking death metal.

It took me a while to get into the Morbid Angel and Kataklysm I was given, but for some reason I latched onto the Vehemence, and it remains one of my favorite bands to this day...(although nobody else seems to like them).

Most folks around here are either "meh, boring" or "they're ok".


They're probably my favorite DM band, right behind VR.

It took me FOREVER to get into Morbid Angel. I hated [I]Altars Of Madness[/I] when I first heard it.

I was given [I]Covenant[/I] and couldn't get into it for a good 6 months....

@ Josh: Definitely. They are one of the biggest influences as of late on my music (which is probably why my ****'s getting a lot better lol.

I still don't really like Covenant except for Angel of Disease. That song was from 1986 anyway though.

Pretty much for me as well. God of Emptiness isn't bad, but the vocals get annoyng. Angel of Disease has sick vocals though.

I remember my first listen to cannibal corpse. I was horrified but they grow on you and DM as a whole interested me.

NP: Inveracity - Visions Of Coming Apocalypse

I got into death metal through Morningrise (Opeth) and Reroute To Remain (In Flames)... but I guess the first real DM I liked was either Winds Of Creation or None So Vile.

I love the drum tone on None So Vile.
