haha...what game?
Basically it's an innuendo game where they have to do an improv skit in a given setting consisting solely of things like that.

Like for example they might be farmers and it'd "hey, i'm about to go plow the field ifyouknowhatimean".

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:01 AM

Ouch... nasty ref KO in the league tonight.

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:06 AM

I too am confused.

Now i am become death the destroyer of worlds.

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:15 AM

It's going to be so good when I move back to mums and get my recording setup, erm, set up.

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:33 AM

Nifty. What will the new improvements be?

Meatplow 07-17-2009 08:38 AM

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:38 AM

Permanent setup.
fart machine and lapel microphone
And Bingo was his name-o!

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:45 AM

Sweet dude.

I have so many gear things I want to buy, all so far off. Sad gaslight.

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:46 AM

I too.

Night all. Sleep time.

ps. 19,000. Woo!

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:49 AM

Well done sir.

I best get transcribing, I missed a few days of it and owe myself very many.

:chug:

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 09:40 AM

"knowing" with nic cage is a crazy movie

what you thinking bout transcribing?

gaslight 07-17-2009 09:44 AM

Building up a library of easy songs for bass teaching so I'm trying to do one easy song a day in amongst the other activities I get up to. I'm planning to have every Rage Against The Machine album done eventually, and get to the point where I have a large amount of entire albums done by a whole lot of different artists and styles.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 09:48 AM

rage is pretty simple to transcribe.....i didn't really transcribe it, but learnt all of 'live at the grand olympic auditorium' by listening to the album over and over again

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 09:50 AM

anyways, i'm going to go to bed....nighty night gas

gaslight 07-17-2009 09:51 AM

Yeah they're a good rhythm section to teach off.

I just want to have them written down so I can give people sheets to take home and all that.

Fond memories of playing along to lots of Rage Against The Machine back in the day.

EDIT: Catch ya later man.

Meatplow 07-17-2009 09:58 AM

you won't steal them off a tabs site and change them how you see fit?

gaslight 07-17-2009 10:13 AM

Nah man, there's no point really, I avoid those sites like the plague because they're generally way off. Especially with easy songs like these, there's nothing those tabs could tell me that my ears can't tell me just as quickly. Plus I want it all to be my own work and of course on top of that doing every one of them by myself is good ear training no matter how easy the song.

:)

Meatplow 07-17-2009 10:30 AM

I see.

gaslight 07-17-2009 10:32 AM

Yeah man, it's like, it's one thing to find a song easy to transcribe with your instrument, but then as you get better you want to get quicker and quicker at making the connections between what you hear and where/how to play it, until finally you can know exactly how to play things without ever having to touch an instrument to double check. That's the level I want to get to one day.

EDIT: Oh snap, that poor ref got nailed in that KO in the league tonight.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 06:58 PM

yeah he got flogged

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 07:11 PM

woo

gaslight 07-17-2009 07:39 PM

What's the haps Joel?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 07:45 PM

i won $10 on a $1 scratchie

gaslight 07-17-2009 07:58 PM

Dude awesome. That's 8 more one dollar scratchies and $1 pure profit.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-17-2009 08:04 PM

yep it could've been that, but i ended up buying 2 pies and some chocolate milk and had $1.80 left over

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:08 PM
Dude awesome. That's 8 more one dollar scratchies and $1 pure profit.
900% return.

ps. What you were saying earlier about tabs is really true. A lot of artists use open tunings, and tabbers oft assume they're in normal tunings and bugger up.

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:17 PM

Yeah definitely. Different tunings on guitar can be quite hard to determine simply by listening to a song. Unless they give you a courtesy strum of all the open strings, haha. Far easier to transcribe general chord movements then exact voicings for sure.

The main problem I have with internet tabs is they're usually incomplete, and they mostly have no grasp of rhythmic information.

Hopefully some more of the album coming together today.

Aaron 07-17-2009 08:19 PM

If you look at chord progressions though, quite often it's obvious when different tunings are used. Some tunings make certain progressions more natural than others.

I've been <3 modal changes of late. [I can't believe I just used that heart sign, haha].

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:24 PM

Yeah modal changes can be super.
