The Big Lebowski got that shit right: Black Russians suck compared to White Russians.

Wouldn't an A0 be hell on most speakers?
Looks cool otherwise. |
A0 is the typical low B string tuned down a whole step. It's not excessively low by any means. E0 is pushing it a little bit at ~20.5 Hz. :p
It probably would cause a problem for most commercial cabinets, except the actual reproduction of those low notes is usually about 6-12dB quieter than the second, third, and fourth harmonic overtones. Psychoacoustics studies have shown that the lower notes are actually filled in and boosted by our brains to sound louder and more prominent than they really are, because SPLs clearly show a tremendous volume drop-off around 50Hz in most cabs. |
It'd be doubtful that a cab would truly pump out the fundamental of an A0 though, right?

Yep, but not impossible. Since I use a crossover in my rig (anything under 140Hz to the 1x18, above to the 4x10), I've experimented a bit. My 18" does a fair job at producing the A0 (27.5Hz), but I have to run quite a bit of power through it to make it useable. A dedicated sub is really the way to go if you want to produce those notes. |
What if we invent an A-1.
So like, the vibrations actually work backwards, and the note exists in time previous to it being produced in the first place. |
RIP Macho Man Randy Savage
He'll be elbow dropping angels in heaven, can you dig it? Oooh yeah! :chug: |

Just got back from the Hangout Music Festival, had one hell of a time.
And came home to my new bass, a Skyline 44-60 |
Very pretty! Great vintage looks.

http://theinfosphere.org/Futurama_theorem
I saw that episode, but never really paid attention to the board until someone brought it up a month ago on reddit. I wish I had a bit more graph theory under my belt. Psh, and people say it's a useless subject. |
greetings and salutations, Cas. long (short) time again.

OMFG WTF WHO ARE j00?!
EDIT: Sup? |
got myself a perfect ten today, great little amp
|
I'm not satisfied at all with my meads. It's been about 5 months, and I don't think the flavor is going anywhere good. I didn't use a proper wine yeast or add any yeast nutrient, so they are still a bit murky and the flavors kind of suck in both the lemon-lime and chocolate-cherry. I'm going to try adding a bunch of lemon/lime zest to the lemon-lime next weekend, and I think I'll add some cherry juice to the chocolate cherry too.
On the plus side, they're still fairly alcoholic (7%-ish), so mixing with sprite masks the crappy flavors and gets ya drunk. |
Mead and sprite? Ew.
|
Sounds weird, but my orange clove + sprite tasted like ginger ale and if the chocolate cherry is anything like chocolate vodka, it will taste like cherry cream soda.
|
Perfect ten?

Haha shit, just read xkcd about this wikipedia rule.
Take any article, click on the first link in the article text (that is not italicised, or in parentheses) and repeat this, you will eventually end up at the page for Philosophy. I tried it from the page for Turnip and I was at Philosophy within two minutes. Highly amusing :smoke:. |

If you continually look at the bigger picture, you eventually reach philosophical arguments. Hell, the highest collegiate degree attainable is a Doctor of Philosophy in [Subject]. Turnip. What a weird choice to start with. |
lol, it's true. took me about 30 pages i reckon. started from Winniki, Opole Voivodeship, which is a town in Poland apparently.
i thought i was going off the scent at one point, but it lead me straight there in the end :p |

The only time I've seen it fail so far is if you wind up at a wiktionary page instead of an article for some words.

Ended up ordering that Focusrite interface I was looking at. Sweet. And all the Scott Pilgrim books while I was at it. I am in serious lesbians with that story.
Thinking outside the box about my new band's first demo/EP here though... I've been REALLY loving the production of some Gridlok stuff recently (check here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk81RisVHJo). The youtube video loses some quality, obviously, but I listen to a lot of DnB at work, and his production is so clean. It's head and shoulders above so many people at the moment, regardless of genre. Completely the wrong style of music, but reckon it's worth hitting someone like that up to work with on production? It's doubtful he'd be interested specifically, but I think it could be quite cool to get the perspective of someone who works in a completely different genre, and maybe get a few crossover sales? Hmm. |
Just went on www.jcbasses.com just now.
Can't believe how good his basses are now. I remember when he made his first one. |
I don't think being a good DnB producer would necessarily make you a good rock producer, nor would production style be enough to generate crossover sales. You'd need to actually incorporate plenty of DnB elements in the music to do that, the average person wouldn't have a clue or a care about production styles.
Maybe worth a try as an experiment. |
Chances he is used to working in a totally different skill set.
Like does he even deal with real drums? Does he know what a good overdriven guitar sounds like? I'm not saying he doesn't, but it would be questions I would be asking him. |
I just did the wikipedia thing, this is my chain:

Plus, everybody should go check out the thread I posted about the videos of my band. |

I'm gonna get me an Aguilar Filter Twin this week I think, if my cash flow meets predictions. |
