| When All The Cards Fall...
Who will be remembered as more important to music? Thrice or the Beatles? I was having a debate with a friend and we need some help settling it? | 1 | Thrice
I think it's going to be Thrice. | 2 | The Beatles
They are pretty good, and they had a nice run. To be honest, though, it's over. | |

05.07.12 | I dislike quoting people but when asked about if any popular music artists will hold cultural relevance hundreds of years from now in contrast to classical composers Piero Scaruffi (who I don't particularly care for) said "Yes. I suspect that many of them will be held in very high consideration centuries from now. But i doubt that it will be the pop stars that sold millions of copies.".
What I wonder about more it how long popular music will remain as arguably the most prevalent form of music. I'm sure hundreds of years ago fans of western art/classical music could never foresee the end and I can see why. I really can't picture anything pushing it out unless there's some revolution in how music is distributed/heard. What I really like to think about is what if classical and folk music had stayed and popular music never came to exist. Would music like that of popular music genres ever come to be? It's really interesting to think about that if advances in audio equipment had never been made we would still be watching live performances of sheet music.
Sorry for going away from the original topic. |
