A User Guide On Who To See And Who Not To See Live

Basically, I want to hear what you guys have to say about bands that you have seen live: should one see them, should one not see them, are the fun, are they weak, do they get the crowd energized, etc. Just give some feedback on artists that you have seen live. List is ten of the acts I've seen live.
1Peter Gabriel
So

Peter Gabriel was amazing live. His voice is still powerful after all the years, and his performances are filled with visual effects. If you look on youtube, you'll find him doing things like dancing around with foreign performers or riding a bicycle on stage. I did not see him do anything crazy like this last year, but that's not to say the performance wasn't still outstanding.
2Tool
Aenima

Seeing Tool live wasn't necessarily the experience I thought it would be. The highlight of the show was really the lights and the crowd's participation. Maynard's voice is definitely not what it used to be, and the only time there was any interaction with the audience was when Danny broke part of his set. The setlist was only ten songs long, and it wasn't the greatest setlist either (that, however, could have just been related the the performance I saw alone).
3Paul Simon
Graceland

How the hell does this guy still do it? He's 70 and still jamming like crazy. His voice was amazing live and everybody performing with him on stage was really into the music and everyone had smiles on their faces. He had an amazing setlist and talked a little about many of the songs he played. Definitely want to see him again before his age starts getting to him.
4Baroness
Blue Record

Baroness is my personal favorite band to see live. I only found out about them because they were touring with Meshuggah and have come to enjoy their records, but I left the concert in love with them. They performed better than they do on their records, and the members really get into the music without causing faults in the music. Definitely recommend these guys (maybe not so much now since their new album was a massive meh-fest).
5Civil Twilight
Human

I wasn't impressed with these guys at all. I don't like their music to begin with, but live they are just boring. Their weak attempts to try to get the crowd energized did practically nothing in their favor. To me, they basically served the same purpose as elevator music: they were just background noise I heard while I was waiting for the main act.
6Decapitated
Carnival is Forever

These guys know how to kick off a metal concert. I was talking to a lot of people before the concert, and somehow each person I talked to had never heard of Decapitated. They must have been impressed because everyone on the floor was immediately moshing and circling. Every song they performed was brutal, and they closed with "Spheres of Madness" which was a great choice. Bottom line is you don't even have to enjoy the band to see them live: if you want to hear some crazy death metal and get punched in the face, this is a great band to see.
7Against me!
New Wave

I don't necessarily like these guys on their records all that much, but seeing them live is a different story. They were fun and the vocals were much more powerful than on the records. Even my dad was rocking out (yeah, I took my dad to a Foo Fighters concert). Must see for punk fans, or rock in general.
8Jimmy Eat World
Bleed American

The band is amazing to witness live if you're into this kind of music. If you only like one song by them and want to see them live, forget it. If I remember correctly, they played a wide variety of music from a lot of their albums. They nailed their performance, so I'd recommend them to fans of the band, or fans of the alt rock / pop-emo-ish music.
9Foo Fighters
Wasting Light

Touring with Serj Tankien and Against Me!, these guys were what everyone came for. They certainly knew how to rock such a large audience. They also performed with an orchestra towards the end of the show. And no matter where you were on the floor, you got a good glimpse of the band: they eventually walked over to a second stage attached by a catwalk running right down the middle of the floor. Like I said, they definitely knew how to handle such a large crowd.
10Meshuggah
Koloss

I moshed; I surfed; I got punched in the face; I watched two chicks make out; I left soaked in beer; I had a great night. But that's unrelated. Meshuggah is definitely a performance that any metalhead should experience at least once. Their shows do not disappoint. The only two complaints I have would be that the setlist was a bit predictable and they slowed down a lot of their songs (which wouldn't be an issue, except they were songs that seemed as though they should be played at standard speed). Overall, a great performance, highly recommended.
