07.17.12 | pearl jam was great live despite the lacking quality of some of their newer stuff, the music was good and they were into it
a perfect circle was good the music was good in itself but too much eMOTIVE shit and they had no stage presence
black keys were ok they had energy but the music and their catalog are lackluster
arctic monkeys ruled they had a ton of energy and the drummer was cool
idk who else ive seen |

07.17.12 | fuck yes seeing meshuggah and decapitated together live was so sick
wouldn't mind seeing tool but "Maynard's voice is definitely not what it used to be" is what i've feared |
BirthRite
07.17.12 | yeah saw mesh and decap together too, good stuff
but the vox for decap is kinda lame tho |

07.17.12 | My favorite live bands would have to be Letlive., The Dillinger Escape Plan & The Chariot.
Oh and Converge live is cool. DETHKLOK LIVE IS AWESOME |
Skoj
07.17.12 | I've seen over 1000 bands, and The Chariot were hands down the best band I've ever seen live. Every Time I Die puts on a fun show too. The National were stupendous as well, they were accompanied by a full string and brass section. Trash Talk was pretty gnarly. Alexisonfire was remarkable as well.

07.17.12 | Fuck add ETID to my previous comment |

07.17.12 | The Chariot fucking slays all live. The singing at the end of The City was so fucking intense. |
macadoolahicky
07.17.12 | Thanks Sowing! And it's good to hear that Misery Signals and Pearl Jam are good live. I enjoy PJ's new music, not nearly as much as the old stuff but I still spin the new tunes every now and then, so I bet I'd have a fun time at one of their shows. |

07.17.12 | Your experience with Tool is far from unique.
And everyone needs to see Streetlight Manifesto before they die. I think that's a given though. |

07.17.12 | 3 Paul Simon
Graceland
How the hell does this guy still do it? He's 70 and still jamming like crazy. His voice was amazing live and everybody performing with him on stage was really into the music and everyone had smiles on their faces. He had an amazing setlist and talked a little about many of the songs he played. Definitely want to see him again before his age starts getting to him.
4 Baroness
Blue Record
Baroness is my personal favorite band to see live. I only found out about them because they were touring with Meshuggah and have come to enjoy their records, but I left the concert in love with them. They performed better than they do on their records, and the members really get into the music without causing faults in the music. Definitely recommend these guys (maybe not so much now since their new album was a massive meh-fest).
5 Civil Twilight
Human
I wasn't impressed with these guys at all. I don't like their music to begin with, but live they are just bo |

07.17.12 | Slayer-Perfect live, played a good amount of old stuff, opened with disciple.
Motorhead-Great and loud as fuck
DevilDriver-Great, one of the bands that got me into heavy music, didn't disappoint.
Anthrax-Probably my favorite live show so far.
Danzig- They were good though it sucks because when I saw them(With DevilDriver) I wasn't that into them.
Slipknot- Don't care for their music nowadays but they had a really good show.
Whitechapel- Bought the chugs.
Asking Alexandria(Saw them at a festival)- Their studio stuff is shit and so is their live performance.
The Devil Wears Prada- Better than AA but not sure if that says much.
As I Lay Dying-Only saw like 3 songs of their set but what I saw was good.
Betraying the Martyr- Better than expected but I didn't expect much.
Tl;dr Go see Anthrax, Slayer,Motorhead,Danzig,DevilDriver.
Hopefully will get to hit up summer slaughter in a few weeks, want to see CC and some others.

07.17.12 | Frank Turner was very good when I saw him in November.
Also, although they're kind of average, Behemoth put on a good show. |

07.17.12 | "So I get to choose out of ten bands?"
Nah man, anything you've seen live, list it and let us know whether or not you think they're worth a few bucks.
And Ire, Peter Gabriel tickets would be pricey. I was looking at tickets for his upcoming SO Anniversary tour, and they weren't as much as System of a Down tickets, but they were still between 50 and 70 for balcony seating if I remember correctly. When I saw him last year it was a graduation gift, so I don't know how much they actually cost then. |

SpiritCrusher2
07.18.12 | and I want to see Meshuggah and Converge so badly |
Rikardur
07.18.12 | The National was probably my favourite show so far. In terms of metal, Immolation (but I've stopped going to metal shows, so whatever). I'll be seeing Swans in October so HOLY SHIT and I'm dying for Neurosis to come around because I hear they're fucking incredible live. |
macadoolahicky
07.18.12 | Why did you stop attending metal shows? Too loud? I told myself after the ringing didn't leave my ears for two days after Meshuggah that I should stop with the metal shows, but I saw at least five people there with ear plugs in and thought "that's a silly, yet brilliant idea." |

07.18.12 | Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Refused, go see them immediately.
and Alexisonfire is doing a final Canadian tour. must see, as these will be the last shows they'll ever play as a band. great live show, i've seen them 3 times. |
Rikardur
07.18.12 | @macadoolahicky: If it was because it was too loud, I'd be avoiding Swans, haha. Nah, I just grew
tired of them...I used to be a huge metalhead in my earlier years and metal shows were all that I
attended (more crap than not, but eh). |
macadoolahicky
07.18.12 | Ah alright.
And unfortunately, I have to pass up my chance to see Refused this Friday =[ |
omnipanzer
07.18.12 | 2 - my experience was more underwhelming than that although I saw them during the Aenima tour so his voice was great. |
Rikardur
07.18.12 | I actually was SUPPOSED to see Meshuggah/Baroness when they came a month or two ago, but had to pass up on that because I still worked a shitty position at my job (until I got dat promotion which came with more reliable hours). The only somewhat metal show coming up now is Agalloch on Monday, but I'm not all that excited for it. Eh... |
Scoot
07.18.12 | godspeed front row was easily the best concert i've ever seen
refused in a month's time might come close |

07.18.12 | I saw Tool in Feb and Maynard sounded great to me. The concert was everything I wanted. Trippy, powerful, and the whole stadium was completely into it. If you want Maynard to interact with you then you're gay. He threw a few jokes in but the whole reason he stands in the back now is because he doesnt want the spotlight on him, but the whole band/music as a whole. Pretentious? Maybe. But it didnt stop from the show being great. YOB opened for them btw and they were also very good.
In Flames sounded great when I saw them in Feb too. They only played 1 song from their 90s stuff which is lame, but their actual playing was spot on and Anders sounded good. Trivium, Veil of Maya, and Kyng opened up for them and they were all meh. In Flames was much more honed.
Mastodon, Opeth, and Ghost all were good in April. Ghost was the perfect opener. They were funny, heavy, but also brought some catchiness. Opeth and Mastodon mainly stuck to their latest album's material, since it was The Hunter/Heritage tour, but they still sounded perfect. Opeth closed their set playing 2 older songs which got the crowd really into it. Mikael's voice sounded spot on. When Mastodon played Blood & Thunder the whole place went nuts. Had a good time.
So yea those are just some of the bigger bands Ive seen lately. Ive been slackin though. Should have went to the Meshuggah/Decapitated/Baroness one.

07.18.12 | "You saw them in support of Aenima?!?! From what I hear, that was their golden era for live performances"
I've told this a few times so I'll summarize but I payed for myself, girlfriend at the time and a friend of mine to all go see them at dayton hara arena. It is a smaller venue but not tiny by any means (6,000 - 7,000) seats. The opener was a horrible band called Bluetip (who is in the DB oddly enough) They only played for like 35-40 minutes (including encore) and made the crowd beg for an encore. Adding insult to injury the next night they played an hour and a half at Lollapalooza. After I heard that I understood why they played such a short show but I was still fucked out of triple admission for a shit show. |
omnipanzer
07.18.12 | They sounded phenomenal |
Aids
07.19.12 | disagree with list-maker about Baroness: they're boring as shit live |
someguest
07.19.12 | they're no Alexisonfire that's for sure |
macadoolahicky
07.19.12 | Sorry you feel that way, Aids. They rocked me to hell and back ^.^ They opened and closed with my two favorite songs by them, which made it all the more awesome. |
PistolPete
07.19.12 | Saw Tool live, yeah the setlist couldve used more "The Grudge" and less "Intension" hahaha that song was soooo boring and it seemed to buzzkill everyone we were all kinda like "hmm wonder when the concert is gonna start up again it seems like Tool is just fucking around with their instruments on a break".
I'd fear for my life if I went to a Meshuggah concert (same with DEP or Converge). Foo Fighters I hear are fun so this made me wanna see them more. |
Oblivioncry
07.19.12 | best band i saw live was the Who. seriously they rocked soo much considering the age. everything next (including RHCP) was simply boring compared to them.
Panteon Roccoco was the most engaging concert i have been too. i lost like 10 kilo that night. they really made the crowd go crazy (and so did themselves, two of em even crashed into each other) and everyone was sweating and exhausted but soo much fun.
Thrice were good too. it was a small venue and that much more exciting when everyone was singing along. i saw them when they released part 1 of the alchemy stuff. digital sea was kinda weird when they played it live but the crowd was into it soon.
InFlames were pretty boring, very disappointed.
but seriously The Who were the best i ever saw and will ever see. |
ZedO
07.19.12 | This year so far I've only seen Anthrax, and yea they were amazing.. |

07.19.12 | Roger Waters. that is all. |

andrew jackson jihad- consistently one of the best shows out there. so much fun

anti-flag- meh band, good live show
rise against- also very good just wish theyd play more old shit
foo fighters- born performers [2]
radiohead- hooooly shit yeah
red hot chili peppers- after waiting 8 years to see them they were great but 1. they were in a stadium and 2. setlist was lackluster (imo)
into it. over it.- evan weiss! fuck yeah
fireworks- incredible energy. sup andcas
between the buried and me- no stage presence. none. but they played perfectly.
cattle decapitation- loudest band ive ever seen (until i see sunn O))) )
foxy shazam- cigarette eating, awesome rock and roll, pretty fuckin good show
ive seen well over 400 bands but thats good for now

07.19.12 | I have seen few artists understanding that they come really rarely to third world countries
but still i got the opportunity and i have received enlightenment,
1.Katatonia
2.Enslaved
3.TesseracT
4.Porcupine Tree
5.Opeth
6.Infected Mushrooms
they surely know what is the importance of audience so they were mad in stage presence
Black Metal concerts are crazy
Death Metal concerts pure drunk and rage ]
Progressive/Psychedelic concerts smoked up

evilford
07.19.12 | saw Tool twice, super boring and Maynard's voice has gone downhill tremendously. the light show was ok, but yeah when that's the highlight of the show it's not cool
saw Queens of the Stone Age twice, they were awesome. energetic and pretty sure the whole venue was high as balls
saw ISIS in 06 at a real small venue, super awesome, lots of energy
saw Deftones in 05, Chino's vocal performance was bad and totally unintelligible and the band was pretty stagnant onstage.
NIN twice also, in 05. both shows were great despite the setlist being dominated by with teeth crap
not a whole lot more worth mentioning

07.20.12 | the flaming lips a year ago

TheSupernatural
07.20.12 | Gotta go with Thrice's goodbye tour for my favorite. Even if it was only a month ago, it doesn't change the fact that I've never been to a show with so much energy. The Earth Will Shake is the best live song I've ever heard (being in the moshpit probably helps).
Besides that, Blue October was great. |
