10.16.12 | Modern Age is probably my favorite song of this year so far. |
Ecnalzen
10.16.12 | Love Little Tyrants, reminds me of Godspeed. |
JakeStallion
10.16.12 | I agree. I get a strong "Godspeed" vibe from that song, which is good because Godspeed is amazing. |
FromDaHood
10.16.12 | My favorites are Someone Anyone, Modern Age and probably Type Three. I think that song rules. |
JakeStallion
10.16.12 | Don't get me wrong, just because Type Three is further down on the list doesn't mean I don't love it. I still really enjoy that song. It reminds me of one of my favorite songs off of DITW, Down. |
MrBigglesworth
10.16.12 | The album goes from energetic to heartfelt to 80's vibe to an epic closing song. Anberlin is like the
only band that has those types of closing songs on their albums. I'm glad they kept that routine
throughout. |
Ecnalzen
10.16.12 | Hell yea, Godspeed is awesome. It and Paperthin Hymn are probably my favorites from the band.
I've noticed a lot of people are gushing over Modern Age. I've only heard the album 3 or 4 times from the streaming link, but it never jumped out to me like some of the others did. |
JakeStallion
10.16.12 | Modern Age didn't jump out at me first either. I'm on my 15th listen through right now, and it's growing more and more on me with each listen. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite Anberlin songs of all time, which is quite the feat considering I love every song the band has put out. |
Ecnalzen
10.16.12 | They are a high quality band. I've been listening since Blueprints came out and I've never been disappointed with any of their albums. |
JakeStallion
10.16.12 | I wasn't introduced to them until New Surrender came out. A friend in my video class 2 years ago showed me Miserabile Visu and I fell in love on my first listen. I went home that night and downloaded their entire discography. They were all I listened to for months and I've followed the band intently since then. They quickly became my favorite band of all time. I'm blown away with each and every thing I hear from them, whether it be an official album song, a b-side, a live version, a cover, an obscure demo. This band is seriously a major part of my life. |
JakeStallion
10.16.12 | I'm going to see them live next month and needless to say, it's been a while since I've been this excited for something. |
Ecnalzen
10.17.12 | I love Miserabile Visu. Soooo gooooood. The only one of their albums I haven't really given an in depth listen to is Lost Songs, the B-sides album. Need to give it another shot one of these days.
I heard Readyfuels first and I was hesitant on them at first because I didn't initially like the way the vocals sounded, which is weird because he is one of my favorite vocalists now. Also, you might dig The Classic Crime (if you don't already listen to them) since you like Anberlin so much. I hold them both pretty high up in terms of alternative/rock styles.
I saw them live once a while back. It was awesome, but they were the opener and they only played for like a half hour so that was a bummer. I'd love to see them as a headliner. |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | I've checked out a bit of The Classic Crime because a few people on this site said they were similar. I do enjoy them, but I haven't listened to any of their albums all the way through like I probably should. Stephen Christian is my favorite vocalist in music right now. He's a major reason why I love the band so much. His voice is flawless and his vocal delivery on certain songs bring the songs from great to breathtaking.
Also, for Lost Songs, check out "The Haunting" for starters. It's my favorite song on the album and I personally think it's one of the best songs they've written. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaIcIDVWOz4 |
iSkane
10.17.12 | Nice, I think I would switch Intentions and Innocent, but that's just me, the rest seems to fit nicely. This album is so good. The year isn't over yet, but I'm projecting it as 3rd on my year list. |
paxman
10.17.12 | Agreed hard, Jake ^
I first heard Anberlin when Never Take Friendship Personal came out. Been in love with them ever since, and they too are an integral part of my life.
Jake, definitely check out TCC's Phoenix if you haven't. It's easily one of my favorite album of 2012 (although Vital has, quite easily, taken the number one slot). |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | I'd be hard pressed to find one album that comes out this year that I love more than this album. This is easily my AOTY thus far and I really don't see anything contesting it. |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | I can't remember the last day that I didn't listen to at least one Anberlin album. I'm glad there are so many others on this site that feel the same way about the band as I do.
Also, I checked that album out a month or so ago, but I only gave it one listen and I wasn't really invested in it. I'll give it a proper listen later tonight once I can force myself to give Vital a break. |
Ecnalzen
10.17.12 | Phoenix is awesome. All of their stuff is great, The Silver Cord is my favorite release by them as of now. The only Classic Crime CD that isn't on par with the others is Vagabonds (it's still a good CD though).
Two of my favorite bands both released a new album within a couple months from each other. 2012 has not disappointed so far. |

10.17.12 | I like this user's taste in music, he knows what's up. |
Skoop
10.17.12 | I think i need to give modern age another listen because i didnt think it was the best or even close |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @Ecnalzen I'm listening to Phoenix by TCC right now. Let's hope I love them as much as you do.
@pwalcher Which user, me or Ecnalzen?
@skoopy48 Give Modern Age a billion listens. Let it take you over like it did to me and many others. |
PistolPete
10.17.12 | was just looking through your ratings, agreed with a lot |
silentstar
10.17.12 | As I clicked on the list, I was secretly hoping you would rank Modern Age as #1 and you did! sweet.
My ranking would be quite similar, except for Someone, Anyone, which would go near the bottom of the list; I really don't find much appeal in it. the chorus bothers me for some reason. |
Ecnalzen
10.17.12 | I will admit the intro/chorus (of Modern Age) parts are pretty amazing. It really solidifies the amazing when he adds his ridiculously pure singing voice in the mix. Maybe it's just a grower for some people. I think it's working it's magic on me right now.
Ha ha, Jake. We will see. Hope we didn't talk up Phoenix too much for you. If you end up taking a liking to it, def check out The Silver Cord as well. |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @InnocentShadow I can't express my love for Modern Age enough. It's a damn near perfect Anberlin song. It's great to see so much love for that song. And about Someone, Anyone: that's odd. I loved that song since I first heard when they released it as a single.
@pwalcher A few of my ratings were from when I first joined the site, so they would need some changing but for the most part my ratings are accurate to how I still feel about them. It looks like you have an awesome taste judging by your ratings.
Check out my last.fm artist plays to see just how much I listen to Anberlin. |
YoYoMancuso
10.17.12 | these guys are opening for the Pumpkins on Friday, pumped |
paxman
10.17.12 | Someone, Anyone definitely seems to me like a track that would fit perfectly on NTFP |
paxman
10.17.12 | Double post because truth |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @Ecnalzen I'm on track 5 on Phoenix right now and I'm quite impressed by what I'm hearing so far. I definitely see the Anberlin vibe these guys give off, but they have a pretty sick sound of their own. |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @paxman I agree completely. That's what I thought when I first heard it. |
PistolPete
10.17.12 | "Check out my last.fm artist plays to see just how much I listen to Anberlin."
just sayin...you should see my plays for chevelle (little crazy, anberlin i have a good 1800 for or something, was addicted to NTFP and cities) |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @Lakes Share the love! Everybody I've shown Anberlin to has loved them.
@pwalcher Holy shit that's a lot of plays. I reset my last.fm a few months ago so all those plays are from the past 4 or 5 months. |
Ecnalzen
10.17.12 | @Jake Oh yeah, they are good stuff. They haven't been a band as long as Anberlin, but TCC knows how to write an album and are definitely getting their own style down. They aren't quite as well known as Anberlin, so I usually try to recommend them to anyone that listens to Anberlin since they have somewhat similar styles. |
JakeStallion
10.17.12 | @Ecnalzen I just got through the whole Phoenix album and...wow that was great! I've been missing out haha. I'm definitely gonna need to check out more of their stuff. |
Ecnalzen
10.17.12 | Glad you enjoyed it. They are a great band. |
