Top 20 Albums: The Divine

All time favorites. ENjoy this shit.
1Kayo Dot
Choirs of the Eye

Easily the most emotional, inventive, and listenable album I've ever encountered.
It's sacred to me.
2Big Big Train
The Underfall Yard

Another album that destroys me emotionally. These men are geniuses of prog. This
album is influenced heavily by 70's era Genesis, but features many other genres and
post-rock influence.
3Animals as Leaders
Animals as Leaders

This album has always been a classic for me. It was one of the first to get me into
progressive music. Virtuoso guitar prog metal goodness of Tosin Abasi.
4Cloudkicker
Beacons

This album has a wonderful aesthetic that I can't get anywhere else. Post-rock
influenced metal.
5Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas...

This album struck me immediately. A journey through the heavenly limits of music.
Indescribable, highly recommended.
6maudlin of the Well
Bath

Toby Driver lays out the gold-standard for metal in one album. Amazing and utterly
beautiful listen.
7Opeth
My Arms, Your Hearse

My crown of death metal. Heavily atmospheric, intensely emotional. This is my
favorite Opeth record.
8Kashiwa Daisuke
Program Music I

On this album, Kashiwa Daisuke blends neo-classical, post-rock, electronic, and
sounds that quite frankly can't be heard elsewhere, perfectly. Highly recommended.
9My Bloody Valentine
Loveless

This album is pure love converted to sound. ATMOSPHERE. Don't let that name fool
you; the universe wants you to hear this.
10Pekka Pohjola
Visitation

One of the most underrated albums on this list; do yourself a huge favor and just
listen to this. Jazz fusion meets a fantasy spirit world.
11The Angelic Process
Weighing Souls with Sand

One of the few to have evoked tears from me. Listen with headphones. This album
holds the most epic and soul-crushing music I've ever heard. Super highly
recommended dog.
12Cynic
Focus

You don't know jazz metal until you've heard this. Technical death metal legends
Cynic unleash a cosmic spew of beautiful alien jazz against technical metal. Yes
boy.
13Frost*
Milliontown

Melodic prog rock at it's most grandiose. Heavily reliant on synth, this album will
undeniably take you places.
14Genesis
Selling England by the Pound

Classic Genesis. Probably their best album.
15Harmonium
Si On Avait Besoin d'une 5eme Saison

Beautiful prog rock from Quebec. Guaranteed satisfaction.
16Soft Machine
Third

Extremely groundbreaking prog/ jazz fusion outfit. Their 1970 release features
everything from exotic jazz to inventive ambiance and everything in between.
17Joe Hisaishi
Spirited Away

A beloved soundtrack from my childhood that still gives me the goosebumps. Utterly
brilliant.
18Big Big Train
English Electric

BBT succeed again with an uplifting prog rock masterpiece that has everything you
would want from the genre. Just as good as The Underfall Yard.
19maudlin of the Well
Leaving Your Body Map

......I really love this band.
20maudlin of the Well
Part the Second

........Did I mention these guys were good?
