yeah if I've already heard really bad albums that deserve a horrible rating, if I come across them I'll rate them quick. but at this point in my life, what tommygun said, I only listen to bad stuff by accident. everything I actively seek out is music that I have been rec'd, have researched and looks promising and/or I want to check cuz it looks or sounds good. sometimes I will sample artists that I believe are gonna be horrible just so I can say I've heard them and know what they sound like but I don't then go 1 their stuff.
there are times that I am repeatedly subjected to horrible music/albums and feel that it's my duty to give them their due ratings *coughcoughmywife'smusic,e.g.kidrock,etc.cough* |

03.16.13 | I have kind of an objectivity merit rating system. for example, instead of a 1 being everything from eminem - encore thru viljahjdhardajharta - masstaden (both of which I can't stand), I gave masstaden a 2.5 because I feel that there is a certain amount of objective merit to it and the 2.5 is cuz I don't like it at all, but there is worse stuff out there and I can see myself enjoying it with different taste. whereas encore, I believe, is just one of the worst albums ever released and I can't imagine liking it at all under any circumstances. horrible horrible album and a waste of time and money, goddammit em.
also, I consider a 1 range album to be something that is atrocious on most/all fronts, i.e. horrible production, instrumentation, writing, lyrics, etc. rather than just 1ing or 1.5ing a bad dm album just because it's a "bad dm album", there's usually something that can be enjoyed about an album or something that can be given credit for, however sparse it may be |

personally, I didn't like the lyrics, the instrumentation and songwriting seemed contrived and boring to me...just don't like it at all and I think it's a bad album personally. but, like I said, it's one of those where there's a level of objective merit to it and I could see myself enjoying it under different circumstances/taste |
