06.01.13 | He's great but seriously, he played virtually the same character in Gangs of New York and There Will Be Blood, only thing is the latter was a distinctively richer character, better acted than the former and infinitely more memorable. I'm glad I saw Blood before Gangs - the experience probably wouldn't have been as memorable otherwise. As for rivalling Marlon Brando, there's just no way in hell. He was unbelievable in My Left Foot but nothing of his compares to Brando in Streetcar, Julius Caesar, On The Waterfront, The Wild One, Godfather etc. He just doesn't have the nuance and the rawness that Brando did. |

06.01.13 | I'm not going to disagree about Brando. What I was trying to say really is that DDL is just as great as Brando was in his prime. He's not any better than Brando, nor is he worse. They're on par with each other in my book. The thing I like about DDL is that he doesn't just act for thr sake of acting nor money. He is very particular about the roles he chooses. ts almost frustrating because he is the best of our time, yet we only see him once every 3 or 4 years. |
