Metal Greats 1988

Some great metal albums released in 1988. A loose order.
10Vio-Lence
Eternal Nightmare

Remains one of my favourite Bay Area thrash albums, even when the vocals aren't the best.
9Destruction
Release from Agony

Whilst not that well-known, Release from Agony is one weird and creepy but also good thrash release.
8Coroner
Punishment for Decadence

A brilliant example of perfectly crafted technical thrash metal.
7Napalm Death
From Enslavement to Obliteration

One of the first and finest grind albums. Well not strictly metal, but earns its place on the list.
6Bathory
Blood Fire Death

If there was just one, this is the essential Bathory album. Contains all sides of the band that count.
5Sadus
Illusions

Another truly sick thrash album. Short, sweet and home of DiGiorgio.
4Iron Maiden
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

Not that frequently played anymore, but its meaning to metal and to me can't be denied.
3Morbid Saint
Spectrum of Death

One of the greatest thrash albums ever. The band left us only this one full-length album, fortunately it's also among the very best of thrash. Pure evil.
2Voivod
Dimension Hatross

Perhaps the magnum opus from one unique band.
1Death
Leprosy

Yeah guess what it's Death again, but god this rules. Has had an immense impact on me during my course of metal \m/
