Anyways, I would argue that while I DON'T think Rancid or Pennywise are pop punk, the two albums I posted are or may be. Cygnatti, I guess because the "Pop Punk" tag wasn't used until a couple years later. However, looking back and listening to it... It kinda fits in with pop punk more than any other sub-genre.. but alas, maybe not what YOU may consider pop punk.

Few albums from after 2000 made that list and the whiny, post-high school emo effort that is "Your Favorite Weapon" DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE ON THIS FUCKING LIST. So, please tell me why you're insistent on it?

jdennis31 08.29.13	I really liked a few songs from the Wonder Years 2nd album, such as the closer, but I hated their first album, and didn't like the few songs I heard from their latest album. And nah, not a big fan of Story So Far. Tried to name all the bands I like in the modern era and I could only think of Strange Vacation, Misser, and The Dangerous Summer, and none of those seem too pop-punkish to me, as far as their current sound goes, so I concede. 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 were all my jams back in middle and high school. I actually have never heard YFW.

Its a bummer, It just seems like a genre where the bands find what people like and just camp or try to replicate it over and over. Just how I feel about TSSF. I don't mean to throw a bunch of hate specifically at two bands, trust me theres plenty more, MAN OVERBOARD! lol but It seems like every high school kid and AP magazine columnist has the biggest unnecessary boner for them and I don't get it. I thought the same thing about Title Fight at first but I saw them live and had a chance to talk to their guitarist Shane when they were still small and totally changed my mind. Ive seen TSSFx2 and T.W.O. but blehhhhhhh.

The Wonder Years - Came Out Swinging is the only song by them I'd actually defend. Great team chant outro. I haven't been in HS since 2006 and it's hard to find people to talk music with in real life, so I haven't had to fend off annoyance at teenage hyperbole. Don't feel like rereading whole thread, but someone said something about "Feeling This" being shit. That song is awesome.

But I feel like if the term "Pop-Punk" was around in the early '90s the Offspring would have been called that. Regardless of how the music sounds the Vocals and Lyrical content has always been the same and had the same (atleast to me) "Pop-punk" vibe. However, the music and instrumentation is definitely more traditional punk. Agree to disagree haha.
