My First Rec List

I know I've been on the site for just a few months, so most users will believe that I don't have the right to recommend albums, but well, I'll do it anyway, I really think more people should listen to these
1Alphaville
Forever Young

Overlooked 80's synthpop, very catchy and fun to listen
2Bee Gees
Bee Gees 1st

Totally different from their 70's disco albums, this is a beautiful psychedelic pop
album, relaxing and cheerful
3Aphrodite's Child
666

70's greek prog, very dark and experimental, pretty hard to get into it, but its worth it
4Black Widow
Sacrifice

Satanic prog, like a dark version of Jethro Tull, but still manages to create its own
sound
5Culpeper's Orchard
Culpeper's Orchard

Danish psychedelic hard rock, it has an icredible guitar work with some very
powerful solos
6The Enid
In the Region of the Summer Stars

Instrumental rock, totally immersive and atmospheric, like the soundtrack of an epic
movie
7Los Jaivas
Alturas de Machu Picchu

Chilean prog, influenced by the andean music, has a very folk/psychedelic sound,
the lyrics are from Neruda's poems
8Living Colour
Vivid

We all know "Cult of Personality" but this album has a lot of other amazing songs, it
mixes a lot of genres: from metal to reggae to rap
9Mountain
Climbing!

Early heavy metal, with some great raw riffs and solos
10Pink Fairies
Kings of Oblivion

Overlooked early punk, Pink Fairies were very influential but they were forgotten
over time
11Premiata Forneria Marconi
Stati di Immaginazione

Instrumental prog, has a really fresh sound even for such and old band like PFM,
the guitar and synths are sweet here
12Roxy Music
Country Life

Prog but with a very radio-friendly sound, has a totally interesting and original sound
13Scorpions
Fly to the Rainbow

Psychedelic hard rock, this is very underrated, the guitar work and the lyrics are
just impressive
14Supertramp
Crime of the Century

Prog with some pretty dark lyrics but with a very catchy and cheerful feeling, has a
great keys work
15The Web
i spider

It seems I'm the only one on the site who knows these guys: jazz rock with a nice
sax and guitars, the vocals may be a little dull though
16801
801 Live

synth prog band: some of the members are Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera, so there's
a lot of talent here
17Vangelis
Blade Runner Soundtrack

One of the best soundtracks ever made, Vangelis shows that he's among the
biggest authorities in New Age
18Sting
Ten Summoner's Tales

A great Soft Rock album, with some beautiful songs like the all-time classic: Fields
of Gold
19Rainbow
Stranger in Us All

Another underrated gem (obviously not as good as the Dio years though) has some
great riffs, catchy vocals and an unexpectedly good drums work
20Strawbs
Hero and Heroine

A dark prog album with mixes of hard rock and folk. Autumn remains as one of the
most stunning epics in prog
