LIONFURY
10.11.13 | A Change Of Seasons is my 1st |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | 1, 2 and 3 are probably my favourites too. Although I'd have 3 as 1. |
KILL
10.11.13 | 2112 bitch |
StallionMang
10.11.13 | Gotta be hard to narrow this down to just 5. |
NordicMindset
10.11.13 | tool third eye |

10.11.13 | The question is, which part of TAAB did you mean? |
MeatSalad
10.11.13 | is it somehow not obvious that he meant the entire thing? |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | It's one song dude, just split in half because of vinyl limitations. |
DrHouseSchuldiner
10.11.13 | 4 is 1 |
Glokta
10.11.13 | no rush = bad. But closer to the edge redeems the list. Not listened to a lot of the others, been meaning to check them out. |
Atrophy
10.11.13 | needs cygnus!!!! 1 is correct tho |
SCREAM!
10.11.13 | I'd throw in a spot for 2112 and Tarkus and since you've got some metal might as well throw in Crimson
But good picks |
Rowan5215
10.11.13 | I know it's one song but being split in half I thought he might've meant one or the other |
JamieTwort
10.11.13 | If I was to choose between the two parts I'd say part 1 probably just edges it, although I absolutely love the latter stages of part 2 so it's really tough to pick. |
Rowan5215
10.11.13 | I haven't listened to it nearly as much as you obviously but at this point I'd say I definitely prefer pt. 1. It seems to me that pt. 1 is more focused on vocals and lyrics while pt. 2 is more focused on the instrumentals so with my tastes being how they are pt. 1 is more my style. |

10.12.13 | best list of all time
i mean, 5 is the best prog metal epic ever and 1,2,3 are the best prog epics ever, esp 2. 4 is the best avantgarde/random/prog/fucking-metal/what-the-fucking-ever epic ever |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | I may make you feel
But I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter

Artuma
10.12.13 | LIST RULES WHY DONT YOU GET IT |
Artuma
10.12.13 | oops i meant 1,2,3,4 are the best prog epics ever (except for the other floyd and crimson songs), 5 is the best asölfshfkassvklasvgsk epic ever and 6 is the best prog metal epic ever. agreed yeah [436342442656377] |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | Dogs > Echoes
I said it |
Artuma
10.12.13 | one does not simply say that
dogs is easily top 10 prog epic tho |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | Dogs is top 5 Floyd songs and Echoes isn't
I will stand by that |
Artuma
10.12.13 | top 10 floyd songs in order:
echoes
soycd
comfortably numb
dogs
pigs (three different ones)
time
hey you
wish you were here
a saucerful of secrets
high hopes |
jmnewcomer18
10.12.13 | i long to be with cassandra gemini |
Artuma
10.12.13 | lol jmnewcomer, i mean it's great and all but you certainly are a newcomer |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | For me
Wish You Were Here
Time
Comfortably Numb
Dogs
Shine On (would be higher, possibly #2 if fucking Roger hadn't sung it)
Echoes
not sure after that too many |
jmnewcomer18
10.12.13 | i am i mean it is my last name and all i just saw cygnus was mentioned so i decided to throw cassandra in there since i like it better |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | "I haven't listened to it nearly as much as you obviously but at this point I'd say I definitely prefer pt. 1. It seems to me that pt. 1 is more focused on vocals and lyrics while pt. 2 is more focused on the instrumentals so with my tastes being how they are pt. 1 is more my style."
That's a fair analogy. Although the second half of part 2 does have some of the album's best and most though-provoking lyrics imo. |
ViperAces
10.12.13 | never heard 5
"For me
Wish You Were Here
Time
Comfortably Numb
Dogs
Shine On (would be higher, possibly #2 if fucking Roger hadn't sung it)
Echoes
not sure after that too many"
lol |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | The whole thing has great lyrics but in terms of melodies I think vocally the best stuff is in Part 1 and instrumentally in Part 2. The "poet and the painter casting shadows on the water" verse is my favourite part of the whole song. |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | what's so lol about that |
ViperAces
10.12.13 | "if fucking roger hadn't sung it" |
TMobotron
10.12.13 | 4 is 1 for me |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | "The "poet and the painter casting shadows on the water" verse is my favourite part of the whole song."
Yes that part is amazing, some of Anderson's best lyrics. |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | The part that starts with "Let me tell you the tales of your life..." is another of my favourite sections, particularly in terms of the lyrics. (That's the part I was referring to in my previous comment about part 2). |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | Cmon Viper Roger kinda sucks at vocals
Yeah Jamie all parts rule pretty much |
ViperAces
10.12.13 | no he is amazing. and roy harper is too |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | Roger certainly isn't an amazing vocalist that's for sure. He doesn't sound too bad in Shine On though. |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | That's one of his better vocal performances yeah but Rick or Dave still could've done a 10x better job |
ViperAces
10.12.13 | rick? |
Friday13th
10.12.13 | He means Richard Wright the keyboardist. I don't think any of them are bad. I guess Gilmour has the most distinguished "Pink Floyd" voice |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | In terms of vocal talent I'd say Gilmour > Wright > Waters.
Waters vocals are easily the worst from a technical point of view but they can suit the music just fine in some instances such as on Animals or The Final Cut. They're pretty bad on The Wall at times though. |
Friday13th
10.12.13 | yeah Waters does barely hit those high notes. It sounds cool though. Yeah the Wall has some weird vocal performances. |
ViperAces
10.12.13 | it suits the music - that's exactly my point.
shine on is perfect vocal-wise, because they could not have been done better |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | I might be wrong but doesn't Gilmour sing the "SHINE ON YOU CRAAAAZY DIIIAAMOND" part with Waters? I swear I hear his voice in there. I know Waters sings every other part on his own but in that bit it sounds like Gilmour is doing backing vocals or something. |
Necrotica
10.12.13 | Where's Rush? |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | @Viper Yeah I meant Rick who didn't sing that many songs in the band but had a fucking beautiful voice that would've suited Shine On perfectly
@Jamie I believe Gilmour does sing that line along with Waters but there are also female backing vocalists so it's hard to tell |
JokineAugustus
10.12.13 | Cygnus, and then I can die in peace |
JamieTwort
10.12.13 | "@Jamie I believe Gilmour does sing that line along with Waters but there are also female backing vocalists so it's hard to tell"
That's my favourite vocal part in the song. It almost sounds as if Gilmour's overpowering Waters during that part, if it really is
his voice I'm hearing. |
Rowan5215
10.12.13 | If only he could overpower Waters at every other point too
But yeah that moment is powerful as fuck |
sleepdirt
10.12.13 | Suppers Ready |
