Roo The Day

A quick look at some of the wonderful experiences I've had at Roo over the years.
10Portugal. The Man

Thursday nights are always excellent when you have a band as epic as Portugal
slaying it and getting the final set of the evening. I woke up and saw them again
after some "Spiritual Gangster Yoga". They brought out the acoustics and played
insanely solid.
9Rx Bandits

I loved seeing so many people come out to brave the 105 degree weather at noon
and thrash like crazy in the sun.
8LCD Soundsystem

Got to run to The Other Tent with thousands of people to see a disco ball drop,
James Murphy himself run out around 4am and give people the party of their life.
7Radiohead

Seeing them for a third time and with tons of great new material (TKOL) and lots of
unexpected stage banter from Thom- ("SHIIIIIIIITTT").
6of Montreal

Greatest end of a show I've witnessed; seeing them destroy their entire stage after
shredding The Past Is A Grotesque Animal for about 15 minutes.
5DJ Sasha

He played until about 7 am or so and closed with an awesome remix of The Eraser.
4My Morning Jacket

Unstoppably the greatest jams every time....
3

In 2005, my music life got a kick to the face by an album called Frances The Mute.
Saul Williams rocked the house right before they took a while to show up
(apparently they required the power from 2! tents at Roo). They proceeded to be
louder than anything I've ever heard before or since.
2The Flaming LIps

Wayne Coyne walks on the crowd after blasting out of a UFO (which apparently are
birthed from 30 foot tall naked cyborg women).
1Radiohead

In 2006, I was biting at the bit for some new Radiohead material and they played
practically all of In Rainbows.
