Kingdok's 2013

Thought 2013 was a pretty good year for heavy music. Here's hoping 2014 can match it.
1Captain, We're Sinking
The Future Is Cancelled

Been listening to this more and more as time has passed. Has got real depth and variety for what, on the surface at least, would appear to be an edgy pop punk album.
Best track: Shoddy Workmanship
2Exit_International
Our Science Is Golden

Loved their debut, and this lived up to it and expanded on it's sound.
Best track: Fuck Yeah! Depression
3The Venetia Fair
Every Sick, Disgusting Thought...

Stumbled upon these guys by chance, completely in a league of their own. One of the most out-and-out fun records I've ever heard.
Best track: We Used To Worship The Moon
4Mutation
The Frankenstein Effect

Released to pledgers right at the ass-end of 2012, but made available online with Error 500 this year, so makes this list.
Best track: Gruntwhore
5Polkadot Cadaver
Last Call in Jonestown

Not as consistently great as previous PC albums, but still another eclectic mix of sounds and ideas with heavy riffs and a little electronica.
Best track: Touch You Like Caligula
6Mutation
Error 500

Technically their only official release, mashes metal, thrash, hardcore and grind together seamlessly.
Best Track: White Leg
7Hey! Hello!
Hey! Hello!

Ginger Wildheart's third release of the pledge campaign (does this guy ever sleep?), heavily punk influenced pop rock and sing-along choruses. Perfect summer album.
Best track: The Thrill Of It All
8Future of the Left
How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident

Didn't love this as much as Plot, but still a solid, consistent album from a genius band.
Best track: Singing of the Bonesaws
9Oaf
Birth School Oaf Death

Lyric of the year: "Squirming in vermin, beak in your eye, feathered git, please die!" from Fuck Off Seagull.
Best Track: Wash Your Faith In My Think
10Axis Of
Finding St Kilda

Recommended to me coz I loved Kerbdog, who they sound nothing like. However, their brand of post-hardcore influenced hardcore not only feels fresh, it also brings to mind early Hell Is For Heroes. This is a Good Thing.
Best Track: We Dine On Seeds
