| Sethdavid's Top 10 Of 2013
These are my top 10 albums of 2013. Kind of a disappointing year.
Albums I enjoyed this year that didn't make the cut are:
Arcade Fire - Reflektor
Born Ruffians - Birthmarks
Cloud Cult - Love
Local Natives - Hummingbird
Lorde - Pure Heroine
The Love Language - Ruby Red
Panic! At The Disco - Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die
Wall Of Ears - Perfect Organ Assembly
UUVVWWZ - the trusted language | 10 | | Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience
Because Pt.1 killed it (in the good way) as a pop/r&b album. Pt.2 blew. | 9 | | Tim Kasher Adult Film
I wish this was my #1 album of the year, because I love Tim Kasher. Putting "Life
and Limbo" and "Lay Down Your Weapons" in the middle of this album absolutely kills
it (in the bad way). I'd rather those two songs just went away forever and it was
an eight track album. | 8 | | Vampire Weekend Modern Vampires of The City
Quite probably their best work to date | 7 | | Darwin Deez Songs For Imaginative People
First track alone basically guarantees this albums place in my top 10 of the year. | 6 | | Haim Days Are Gone
Earwormz | 5 | | Foals Holy Fire
Foals are p good, no doubt, though I have found with this release as I did with
Total Life Forever that I WANT to like it more than I actually do. It's weird. | 4 | | Telekinesis Dormarion
Accessible, catchy, interesting. | 3 | | Charli XCX True Romance
I like me some good pop music. This is really good pop music. | 2 | | James Blake Overgrown
So well done, makes me feel feelings. | 1 | | Baths Obsidian
One of the very few albums I listened to this year that seemed to have a lot of
feeling behind it. Musically amazing, lyrically amazing, makes me excited for the
future of Baths. | |

01.09.14 | Obsidian was a cool album. What made it your favourite? Was it just better "musically [and] lyrically", or did you just enjoy it more?
Lots of 2013 albums you still 'ought to spin. Almost jealous. | sethdavid
01.15.14 | Yeah, 2013 was a busy year for me, didn't get a to check out a whole lot of new music but would definitely love to - what would you recommend?
I liked Obsidian because I thought it was very personal - almost to the point that it was embarrassing at times (in the same vein as Weezer's Pinkerton). I think a lot of artists are afraid to take that route right now, and they're just trying to write something that "everyone can relate to". I thought Obsidian had a good variance musically, from some complex tracks to very straightforward tracks (such as No Eyes) |
