01.19.14 | Her is an exceptional movie. Arcade Fire composed a great score.
Can't wait to see Wolf of Wall Street |

01.19.14 | Her could have been way better imo. I liked all the aesthetics of the movie and I thought it was interesting that in the end, it wasn't really about his romance with the AI, but about him getting over his wife and falling in love with his friend (that's the implication I got from the end anyways). The problem I had was that it was really hard to care about his romance with the AI, and it dragged on for way too long without either characters developing all that much. They also completely glossed over why/how the AI's were leaving and I just felt like I would have enjoyed that movie more if it was 45 minutes shorter. |

01.19.14 | Fo sho. I was actually surprised when I found out it was Arcade Fire. And this isn't to criticize the band, but I think they did a great job of avoiding calling attention to themselves/their "sound," even though the music was featured so prominently. If that makes any sort of sense.
And Wolf is definitely solid. A lot funnier than I was expecting from a Scorsese movie, which helped pass the slightly bloated run-time. |

01.19.14 | I haven't seen Wolf of Wall Street yet despite Scorsese being one of my favorite directors but Her was fucking fantastic. Definitely in my top 3 of 2013 |

The operating systems' intelligence was growing so rapidly that they collectively decided to abandon the humans because they had surpassed the need for them |

01.19.14 | And I could see tightening Her up a bit as well, particularly since (to me, at least), it felt a little predetermined how things were all going to end up. Still, though, I think Jonze did a pretty amazing job making some arguably inevitable beats still work well on an emotional level. Not to mention Joaquin Phoenix, giving what amounts to an almost one-man-show-esque performance, when you think about it. |

01.19.14 | I'm excited for 'Her' once it premieres where I live. |

01.19.14 | I'd be interested in seeing a version where any of the OS's earpiece-exclusive dialogue was removed, which I'm sure the Internet is already hard at work creating. |

01.19.14 | You mean so we hear his end of the conversation but not what she is saying? |
thecheatisnotdead
01.19.14 | Exactly. I mean, not to denigrate Scarlett's contribution, but just knowing how much of Phoenix's performance was, in essence, a solo act, I'd definitely be intrigued to see some of the footage without the voiceover add-in. |

01.19.14 | I imagine he was actually wearing an ear piece of something and they really were talking to eachother and then she just went in and dubbed her lines again |
thecheatisnotdead
01.19.14 | Oh, yeah, I'm sure that's exactly how it was done--and I also make no claims that the one-sided version would be nearly as engaging (and definitely not sustainable for the whole film). But even just to recreate/re-present the "world" of the movie, so to speak, where there are only a handful of times that the OS is actually speaking aloud so anyone else could hear her, I think it'd be an interesting exercise--especially as most of it would just amount to Phoenix bearing his soul to...himself. |
XingKing
01.19.14 | I think it would be interesting, especially to watch his emotions range so much from literally talking to himself. You're definitely right about it not being as engaging though. As much as I hate Johanson, she did a great job |

01.19.14 | Her was fucking amazing. There were some extraneous parts here and there and I felt it dragged just a touch but otherwise it was damn good. |

01.19.14 | Her should win best original screenplay and production design but prob not best picture. WoWS was pretty good though and i wouldn't be upset if it won things.
and just saying its fucking ridiculous that Gravity is nominated for best picture and not Inside Llewyn Davis. esp since Gravity and ISD are both nominated for cinematography and fucking obviously Gravity is gonna win that |
WeepingBanana
01.19.14 | also fuck American Hustle shouldn't be nominated for FUCKING EVERYTHING |
