Eyy Yo 2014 Listens
15 2014 releases I've heard! ratings in parentheses. I didn't rate the CyHi tape yet rrbecause I rhaven't figured out what I should give it yet. |
1 | | Red Handed Denial Stories of Old
really catchy Canadian post-hardcore w/ female vox (3.8/5) |
2 | | Schoolboy Q Oxymoron
incredibly solid Black Hippy release (3.6/5) |
3 | | Sianvar Sianvar
california post-hardcore supergroup (3.7/5) |
4 | | For The Fallen Dreams Heavy Hearts
an excellent return to form for these boys, but still just a few too many breakdowns
for my liking (3.1/5) |
5 | | Intervals A Voice Within
The vocals were such a great addition to this band, they were pretty boring before
as an instrumental group. (4/5) |
6 | | Icarus the Owl Icarus the Owl
Mathy pop-punk band that continues to progress each release, every song will grab
and keep hold of your attention (4.1/5) |
7 | | CHON Woohoo!
jazz-fusion with incredibly tasty riffs (3.7/5) |
8 | | Alesana Decade
Alesana being Alesana, quite decent
(3.3/5) |
9 | | Akissforjersey New Bodies
New Bodies is a great and welcome return for akissforjersey. They manages to
change and refine their sound (and become a little heavier) while keeping all the
catchy elements of their music the fans love. The production is great and the
vocals are the main selling point of this album. Some of the hooks sound similar to
one another, and the album itself is nothing groundbreaking, but almost everything
here will have your head bobbing.
(3.6/5) |
10 | | Alaya Thrones
The vocals are here are incredibly catchy! The production can be a little unclear at
times, but the instrumental performance is proficient enough to make up for that.
Alaya's debut album is a nice amalgamation of genres that sounds refreshing for the
most part, even though it's a blend of stuff that has been done before.
(3.4/5) |
11 | | Rick Ross Mastermind
some really awesome tracks and some real snoozers on the new Rozay, nothing new.
(3/5) |
12 | | Cyhi Da Prynce Black Hystori Project
he spits raw fire on this mixtape, don't sleep on this |
13 | | Capture The Crown Live Life
lolbad
(1.4/5) |
14 | | Emmure Eternal Enemies
Emmure being Emmure, junzing all over the place
nothing new here (1.9/5) |
15 | | YG My Krazy Life
Any moments of brilliance here are marred by really poor and samey production and
boring songwriting. Awesome guest features from Kendrick Lamar and Drake bring
My Krazy Life's stock up somewhat, and the second half of the album is way better
than the first. (2.4/5) |
