PappyMason 07.29.14	I guess cultural influence does have a bearing on some ratings, especially on older albums, but it really depends on the individual. Some listeners may know the background of a particular record, others won't. It's all subjective anyways...

Funeralopolis 07.29.14	1- beyond all redemption horseshit or pop punk 1.5- unlistenable trite or black metal 2- disappointing efforts usually get this or djent 2.5- really boring, run of the mill 3- what an okay album! just really alright, it had that one song that was cool and a few others that were listenable I guess will probably never listen to again after a week. 3.5- hey pretty solid album! This isn't black metal or pop punk at all! many songs are good but there is something holding it back 4- nice album, one of the best of the year, not too much to complain about, very solid effort 4.5- mind blowingly amazing, little to no flaws 5- masterpiece, resonates with me on a personal level, maximum enjoyment from music possible or is deathcore.

ChoccyPhilly 07.29.14	Couldn't give a fuck about how influential it is/was. First criteria is based on how many songs on the album I like, if like at least 2 or 3 the album will probably be a 3. And then it's how the overall feel of the album is and if they are any weak spots within it. So say if I like 6/11 songs on an album enough to put on my iPod and the rest are kind of good and make the album feel whole but I just don't like em as stand alone tracks, I'll probably give the album a 4 or a low 4.5 A 5 on the other hand needs to be basically flawless, take me through many emotions and something where I like all but 1 or 2 songs

MoosechriS 07.29.14	pretty much how much i get out of the music, if it's boring yet not bad it'll usually get a 2.5 if it's shit it's obviously lower and a 3 or above is mainly dependant on how often i feel i want to listen to it

Froot 07.29.14	ok real talk? i know this probably won't register with anyone, but here's how i would realistically lay out the ratings 5 - "Perfect" 4.5 - "Superb" 4 - "Great" 3.5 - "Good" 3 - "Fair" 2.5 - "Average" 2 - "Poor" 1.5 - "Very Poor" 1 - "Awful" I've always found that "Classic" is a bit obnoxious, especially when you consider a lot of people rate their 5 albums based on the personal connection they share with it, and maybe not always the quality. Also, since 4/5 is basically 8/10, I would say that's more akin to a "Great" if nothing else, or at least that's how I've always viewed it as.
