Albums I Need To Get

Pretty self-explanatory. Good thing it's almost quarterly bonus time...
1Between the Buried and Me
Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium

Loved the studio album, and Colors_Live was fantastic, as well, so I see no reason this should
disappoint.
2Perfume Genius
Too Bright

Listened to a few songs already, and while a part of me is bummed to see him almost fully
drop the sad-sack folksy Sufjan Stevens shtick, this bigger sound seems to work well. Plus,
dem lyrics, tho.
3Weezer
Everything Will Be Alright in the End

I, for one, thought the album art was great. So that's something. And early buzz is
shockingly positive. Definitely taking a chance on this one, but for the first time in a long
time, I can put "Weezer" and "hope" in the same sentence.
4Trioscapes
Digital Dream Sequence

Separate Realities still gets heavy rotation. Emphasis on the heavy.
5Have a Nice Life
deathconsciousness

Old! OLD! But hey, this is finally getting a physical (re?)release. The Lord listens.
6Have Mercy (MD)
A Place of Our Own

...and while we're having things, howsabout some Mercy? Some local fellas, I'm surprised
their debut flew under the radar for so long on this site. One of the few albums my
increasingly short attention span enjoys sitting back and jamming in full. Hopefully this lives
up.
7Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross
Gone Girl

If this is half as good as the Social Network score (and half the length of the Girl with the
Dragon Tattoo's), this should be stellar. High hopes for the film, as well.
8Pianos Become the Teeth
Keep You

The change in sound might strike some as understandably off-putting, but I feel like they've
been drifting in this direction for a while. "Repine" is fantastic, "Late Lives" less so, but I'm
still excited for this one overall.
9Katatonia
Last Fair Day Gone Night

Katatonia is one of the rare bands who excite me even with their seemingly stop-gap live
releases. (See also: #1.)
10Ne Obliviscaris
Citadel

Already preordered this bad boy. Progressive metal (or however many sub-genre labels deep
you want to go) done right, both nuanced and invigorating, and it's always nice to hear some
violin employed outside of cheesy interludes. Take note, Opeth.
11 Devin Townsend
Z2

"THEY HIDE THEIR FINEST BEAN!" This Fall, the search continues...
12Foo Fighters
Sonic Highways

Saw these guys (and the Holy Shits) at Firefly this year. Great set, and while the fiends didn't
play any new material, but Wasting Light was a shockingly solid return-to-form, and the
premise(/gimmick?) behind this album has my interest piqued.
13Damien Rice
My Favourite Faded Fantasy

Just the knowledge that this dude's still alive is plenty exciting enough, in my opinion. But a
new album, to boot? I'll take it.
14Mono
Rays of Darkness

...also, the Last Dawn. Double (or, in this case, companion albums, I guess?) can be a tricky
proposition, but if there's a band whom I trust with the task (besides Hammock), Mono'd be it.
15Pink Floyd
The Endless River

So this could be an utter disaster, but a few things make me think otherwise--namely, the
Division Bell, David Gilmour's solo output, and Richard Wright's intact keyboard parts. That's
far from a complete recipe for success, but it's enough to make me not write this album off
out of hand.
16Kayo Dot
Coffins on Io

Toby Driver's work ethic mystifies me. I sort of hate him.
