2014: The Year That Keeps On Giving

2014 has been quite the year for music. Every time I think I've discovered the best the year has to offer, I discover an album I overlooked or am surprised by a new release. Recs welcome of course!
1Bobby Barnett
Little Wounds

this solo project from the vocalist of Captain, We're Sinking is what inspired me to make this list because i overlooked it which is unacceptable
2The Smith Street Band
Throw Me in the River

Wil Wagner is a God
3Transit
Joyride

a nice return to form after their last one
4Spectral Lore
III

one of the overall best releases of 2014
5Woods
With Light and With Love

thanks to JamieTwort for this one. great modern folk album
6Falls of Rauros
Believe in No Coming Shore

one of the best bm releases of 2014 (and that's saying alot considering how strong the year has been for he genre)
7Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

for fans of jack's mannequin obviously. this has some of his best work in years on it
8Weatherbox
Flies in All Directions

recommended for fans of Say Anything
9Agalloch
The Serpent and the Sphere

one of the more divisive albums of the year still holds up really well for me
10Musk Ox
Woodfall

much like Spectral Lore, this is one of the best releases of 2014 and it basically sparked my interest in neofolk music
11Saor
Aura

yet another amazing bm record
12Yellowcard
Lift a Sail

the second half of the album saves this one from being somewhat mediocre
13Weezer
Everything Will Be Alright in the End

I still don't get the crazy hype for this, but it's a fun album to listen to
14New Found Glory
Resurrection

best album by NFG in years
15Oado
Life Era

one of the best neofolk albums of 2014 behind Woodfall
16Darkspace
Dark Space III I

they've done it again
17Unearth
Watchers of Rule

can't believe how much this one shreds

57The Front Bottoms
Rose

cool EP by The Front Bottoms dedicated to one of their grandmas
58A Slow Descent
On Ganymede

Judio has been surprisingly consistent in 2014 with his project A Slow Descent and On Ganymede is still one of my favorites by him.

Undertaker

another great neofolk album. This one is a more challenging listen
68Fen
Carrion Skies

this is good but it tends to drag in several spots. definitely some potential here though

really relaxing album
71 Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties
We Don't Have Each Other

don't like this as much as I did earlier this year, but still great

I honestly thought Love part 2 might be the final nail in the band's coffin, but they've won be back with what's probably the strongest album of their career. Really surprising album
