My Top 10 Albums Of 2014

Here it is guis. Thank you for any love/hate
10Animals as Leaders
The Joy of Motion

This whole album is such a funky journey. It certainly is joyous. Especially the track, Another
Year, instant nostalgia as it reminded me of the soundtrack to the original Spyro the Dragon
games I?d play as a kid. Progressive enjoyment right here!
9Weezer
Everything will be alright in the end

Of course everyone was skeptical of new Weezer as we have always been. Promising singles
were catching us by ear. Now certainly this is nowhere near as good as something like the
Blue Album or Pinkerton, though it was extremely gracious for Rivers Cuomo to hear what the
fans were saying. I?d say this is back to the sound that they should have been playing with
after all. A return to late 1990?s very early 2000?s weezer is a good comeback in my opinion.
Cleopatra and Da Vinci are amazing jams.
8Interpol
El Pintor

Everyone can forget the self-titled now, Interpol isn?t finished. An album that I actually see
rivaling Antics in ranking terms, I?m glad they got back to a more guitar oriented sound. The
reverb is a bit heavy on this, but I gotta be happy they didn?t do the same album over again.
Last three tracks on this album are definitely compilation or greatest hits worthy.
7White Reaper
White Reaper

This is technically an EP considering it?s under 10 minutes, but I discovered these guys a
couple months ago from TheNeedleDrop. I?m so happy I decided to check these guys out
because everything I heard in this short time frame was super promising. This is similar to a
dream band I picture in my head but doesn?t exist. Can?t wait for their debut album soon. If
you?re looking for some down and dirty punky garage rock, look no further.
6Sun Kil Moon
Benji

At first it was kind of a bore. I kept giving it occasional shots because everyone was calling
this a masterpiece in folk music (I wouldn?t go that far) so I decided to not give up on it. I?m
glad I didn?t, because when you let yourself open up, this album is one of the most beautiful
records today, in a sad and emotional way. Melancholy indie folk all the way. Bluueee craaab
caaakkess.
5Run the Jewels
Run the Jewels 2

"You can all run naked backwards through a field of dicks!"
4Royal Blood
Royal Blood

Duos have really made a comeback in today?s music. I?m glad they don?t die out, because the
capability of limited instruments and being able to make such kickass songs like, Out of the
Black, and Loose Change, that?s amazing. If you?re like me, you?ll probably be wondering how
the fuck that guitar is actually a bass at first listen. Definitely gives the band some originality.
They could use a little more of that, but this is 40 minutes of scuzzy riffs and trembling
grooves.
3The Black Keys
Turn Blue

Definitely an unpopular opinion, but this is just one of the best of the year. Check out my
review for this if you haven?t for a more elaborated explanation, but I was pleasantly
surprised with the new direction Dan and Patrick decided to take. I was open to the change
and I had so much fun with this one.
2Caribou
Our Love

Never heard of this guy before listening to this. I had no idea what to expect, but man I?m
going through the rest of his discography now.
1Mac Demarco
Salad Days

Along the same lines with Caribou, I had never heard of this guy until last month. Jesus?this
is what I?m talking about. It?s not perfect at all but there?s an attraction whenever I put on
one of his songs now. The production style he uses. His half-assed vocals. The playful and
down to earth lyrics. I?d recommend this album to anyone! Can?t get enough right now. Every
song is an enjoyable laid back slacker pop tune and I love it!
