SeaAnemone
12.06.14 | man some subgenres definitely don't need this throw-every-fucking-thing-in sort of list
especially when it ends up including a bunch of stuff that isn't post-rock at all
I mean yay for Rachel's at least I guess |
SeaAnemone
12.06.14 | I agree, lots of cool stuff on here!
Would be much better in my eyes if it looked less like a RYM chart and more like a distillation of your favorites of the style or the ones you find important.
Just a general trend I think is icky. |
RadicalEd
12.06.14 | Very extensive list, alot of great stuff. But yeah. Some stuff is not even close to being post rock, i mean "there will be fireworks" has like one song that could be classified as a post rock song, if you're playing fast and loose with the term. |
SkaCali
12.06.14 | very cool list |
Greem
12.06.14 | Xenophanes What albums aren't post-rock in this list? |
SeaAnemone
12.06.14 | Thursday
Crash of Rhinos
There Will Be Fireworks
*shels
Crippled Black Pheonix
Moving Mountains
Kashiwa Daisuke
Boris
Unwound
are a few that aren't post-rock
there might be some vague influence there; but "long songs" does not = post-rock
they fit much better under other labels |
Ryus
12.06.14 | agreed with eric but this is still a great list regardless |
Sniff
12.06.14 | List needs new Blueneck |
AnimalsAsSummit

Faraudo
12.07.14 | Great list man, I don't know quite a lot of artists in here so...lots of new music for the coming holidays. |
Artuma
12.07.14 | not all of these are post-rock |
RadicalEd
12.07.14 | lol. failure in basic reading comprehension on my part. |
Keyblade
12.07.14 | Sweet list, but dude do you dig Sleepmakeswaves? Was just jamming their 2nd EP which is still one of my favorite post-rock records ever |
JS19
12.07.14 | Art is 100% right. So many of these are not post rock, mostly great great albums apart from the couple I don't know... but not post rock |
JS19
12.07.14 | But props to being the only other person on this site other than me who knows about half these albums! |
treeqt.
12.07.14 | idk everything i know here can definitely be put on a post-rock list tbh with thursday and unwound being a bit of a stretch |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | this is actually a decent list considering its a fucking post-rock list, i am impressed. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | shut the fuck up |
treeqt.
12.08.14 | srsly though listen to gastr del sol, sokot band, jambinai, cerberus shoal, the swamp, youth pictures of florence henderson, yodaka, fly pan am and magnog |

|
treeqt.
12.08.14 | snsd - the best [4] |
SeaAnemone
12.08.14 | yea youth pics of florence is the best post-rock band I can think of that's not here
no storm and stress either
or spokes
or ghastly city sleep
or ascent of everest but that's forgivable they're kinda generic and boring
oh and best pessimist |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | cerberus shoal [2]
also big blood and fire on fire |
treeqt.
12.08.14 | might as well include natural snow buildings at that point as well |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | might as well |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | and hungry ghosts |
SeaAnemone
12.08.14 | smh this list is just a splattering of post-rock albums no check for quality |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | no there are tonnes of great albums on this list, probably the least shitty post rock list ive seen on this site by far |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | hey spooky shut the fuck up |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | i dont even give a fuck what you even said i rarely read more than the first 2 shitty words of your posts i just want you to stop it forever |
SeaAnemone
12.08.14 | taking that personally potsy because that means you obviously haven't seen my Essential Post Rock List smh |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | ill go look at it now and judge harshly |
SeaAnemone
12.08.14 | and like sure this does have like 30 rly good albums on it but the list would be much better if it was just those 30 albums not those 30 plus a lot of mediocre albums and a bunch of non-post-rock albums |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | if you are referring to this list sea: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=101808
i think this list is better. It has a bunch of albums i really love that yours doesn't, plus both lists have some mediocre stuff. But I can overlook the fact that this list has some albums that really aren't post-rock because it has a lot of obscurities which is always nice to see and it has 20 12 and 4 |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.08.14 | i cant help it he is the worst user of all time |
treeqt.
12.08.14 | heem eleet |
wtferrothorn
12.08.14 | Have you checked out Low Roar-0?
Came out this year and is an AOTY contender for me. |
wtferrothorn
12.08.14 | And holy shit, you must be the biggest Post-Rock nut out there. I've been trying to get into it, but don't truly know where to start. I've tried GY!BE and Low Roar, but that's it. Any suggestions for beginners? |
treeqt.

SeaAnemone
12.08.14 | that chart's kinda embarrassing tbh like what's up with putting DMST's worst album on there ugh |
treeqt.
12.08.14 | the point of those lists is kinda to just throw out names for the pleb to check

Rowan5215
12.08.14 | needs more Bunny's Caravan |
Royl123
12.08.14 | Awesome list, although I like Ágætis byrjun better for a Sigur Ros album. |
monotsam13
12.08.14 | Props for 24, 28, 46, 48, 53, 67, 73, 75, 78, and 100. |
amanwithahammer
12.09.14 | I think I just found a go to list for new music... even though it's weird that you called the list post-rock when it's just various genres with a significant amount of post-rock it's so great as a whole I can't complain |
