Pajolero 12.29.14	I agree, at least in terms of controls/character movement the third one was the most smooth and fluid, simply a joy to play. Once I tried the beta of 3, playing 2 felt stiff and clunky, I just couldn't go back to it. The maps were superior in 1/2, no argument.

InfernalOarsman 12.29.14	The main reason I loved one was how gritty and visceral it was. I've beaten the story ten times or more and I've probably sunk over two full weeks of gameplay into versus, primarily ranked.
TheSpaceMan 12.29.14	shot gun batttles we so fucking amazing, when it got down to 1v1 and you're fucking gladiator battling the last guy for your entire team... rolling around and hitting active reloads praying you get the kill shot before he did later games in the series focused on more respawning and balanced guns as opposed to making it a rush to get the power weapons... only thing that did right was getting rid of the OP active reload for the longshot

The smoke grenades that knocked you down (before the update), the nerf'd gnasher, the 2-piece whores, the maps, and it just let me down all across the board. Perhaps my expectations were too high, because I fell in love with Gears 1.

Vague back stories to what felt like a deep well thoughout world. Gears 2 and 3 proved I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, Gameplay on 2 and 3 slayed, but isn't that a given on a AAA title like this?

DrGonzo1937 01.15.15	2 and 3 storylines went too TV drama, awful. And Dom's death was terrible yeah. The first Gears storyline is very vague which felt more realistic. It gives you segments of stuff that has happened in the past without going into detail on it, I like storylines like that. Less is more imo. And it lined the characters up beautifully. A shame the writing went to shit after the first one.

Breaking out of prison, having to cross the town at night, the vehicle mission at night, the mansion level, killing General Raam on the train at the end. The later Gears had more "over the top" moments but Gears 1 was tense, was atmospheric and had the right amount realism to make you tense up.

In the 1st Gears, the mood was perfect, it was creepy and you got tense at certain moments. The 2nd 2 Gears were more over the top, lacked any tension and were more about creating over the top moments to throw your controller at the tv when you messed up than building a connection with the story. I also forgot the fucking epic mine sequence in 1 where you ride the mine cars. God I miss that game. i know what I'm doing tonight...

Vakarian12 01.16.15	characters were all kinda lame but i enjoyed the story for what it was favorite was Gears 2. liked how it was bigger and felt more like a full scale war, as opposed to the first games "4 dudes running through corridors shooting monsters" finally got round to playing judgement and loving it so far, campaign was actually really fun
