Rockavaria Festival
So now my festival season is officially opened as I visited the Rockavaria last weekend. Here’s a short overview on the bands I had the honor to see. |
1 | | Paradise Lost Draconian Times
Due to work I arrived quite late and they were the first band I managed to catch. A good way to kick off a festival. Although the sound was mixed a bit poorly it was great to hear songs from Draconian Times live. |
2 | | BABYMETAL BABYMETAL
I enjoyed the show quite a bit to be honest, but my friends didn’t stand it for long. Sound was also poorly mixed. |
3 | | Incubus S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
My hopes weren't high for this one as I was really disappointed the last time I saw them. Pleasant enough they were quite entertanining and pulled off a nice show. |
4 | | Muse Drones
I never was that much of a Muse fan as I always felt they are too poppy for my taste. Surprisingly the performance was quite good and the songs worked pretty well on stage. Good performance, might check out some Muse stuff in the future. |
5 | | Limp Bizkit Significant Other
Although they seemed a bit spiritless and fatigued the crowd went crazy and had a great time. Best thing here was definitely the audience who partied hard and relentless! The weak spot for me was the sound again which was totally overloaded and way too loud for this venue. |
6 | | Hellyeah Hellyeah
Day two was supposed to begin with Hellyeah for us. I was really looking forward to them as I hoped to get a glimpse of Vinnie Paul and feel some Pantera-vibes to enlighten me. The band was half an hour late, then they got cancelled altogether due to „technical problems“. I was really pissed as thus I also missed Dr. Living Dead for nothing which I also was so keen on seeing... |
7 | | Accept Blood of the Nations
They made up a bit for the dissapointing start of day two. They were really fun and everyone had a great time. |
8 | | Five Finger Death Punch War Is the Answer
Well, definitely not my cup of tea. Never heard them before and never will again. The uninspired, poor riffing did nothing for me tbh. They were well received though and at least managed to create some energy on stage. |
9 | | Judas Priest Stained Class
All frustration was blown away when they got on stage. Rob pulled off an amazing performance and even the back rows were totally drawn in by his charisma and the tight deliverance of his comrades in arms. |
10 | | KISS Destroyer
Ok, first I have to say that I never was into that Kiss thing at all. I always found the music and the whole merchandise thing boring, pretentious and awkward. I really thought they could do nothing for me… I definitely was wrong on that. They pulled off a very entertaining and bombastic show with everything from fireworks to a blood spitting Gene Simmons and acrobatic flight action – I have to admit it was totally fun to watch and a great closer to the second day! |
11 | | Hatebreed Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire
Day three started off ferociously with an energetic performance by Hatebreed. The crowd soon started a circle pit and the atmosphere was great. A very successful start into day three. |
12 | | Testament Practice What You Preach
Now sh!t got serious with this uncompromising and powerful performance. I didn't know too many songs by name but I'm sure to change that in the very near future. Top-notch original badass thrash! Oh yeah, the party was on! |
13 | | Kreator Extreme Aggression
The next thrash force to be unleashed upon the spectator. Quite good, but an entire league below Testament imo. At least they kept the ball rolling. |
14 | | Faith No More King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime
A class of its own in every respect! From the flower decorations to the insanely tight and energetic performance – everything was perfect. To hear all those awesome tracks I’ve been growing up with live for the first time gave me shivers. Very glad they also played Separation Anxiety which I didn’t expect at all… This was definitely my personal highlight of the festival. |
15 | | Metallica Master of Puppets
Not much to say here, the Headliner rocked the stage for more than two hours and pulled off a great finale. A fun closing worthy of every festival. |
