06.24.15 | 7 is one of the best second halves. When they just give up on writing full songs. |
apokolypz
06.24.15 | comedown machine better than Is This It? Son of a... |
altertide0
06.24.15 | Hard to find any albums where the difference in quality between two sides is really significant.
The only albums I can remember right now are Van der Graaf's Word Record, Brian Eno's Before and After Science and Kate Bush's Aerial. Zappa's Joe's Garage's last 3rd is also much better than the rest. |
Artuma
06.24.15 | the second half of 2 kills the first half agreed |
porcupinetheater
06.24.15 | Props for Purgatory Dance Party. Bring me the Head of Andy Warhol's best PC track. |
AmericanFlagAsh
06.24.15 | Well 5 is actually split into 4 parts on vinyl
And the second side of the first LP rules
War on War + Jesus Ect. + Ashes |
deathschool
06.24.15 | 6 is pretty underrated round these parts. Nice choice |
DoofusWainwright
06.24.15 | Well, both sides are great but I prefer side A of 'Low'
'High Violet' I much prefer the second half
This is tough tbh |
manosg
06.24.15 | Not sure I agree with 1. But an album I always thought had a stronger second part is Bob Marley and The Wailers - Exodus. |
AmericanFlagAsh
06.24.15 | Oh you were talking about in general. Well if Ashes is on the first half, then first half > second for sure. |

06.24.15 | To Pimp a Butterfly might just be the shout of the thread, I'm feeling that |
IronGiant
06.24.15 | Beach Boys Today!
In/Casino/Out
Brother, Sister (first half still slays though)
all come to mind |
Jethro42
06.24.15 | King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic |

06.24.15 | oh and to pimp a butterfly (2) |

06.24.15 | how is jane doe's second half better than the first? |
theBoneyKing
06.24.15 | And 2 people have said High Violet but much as I adore the album I like the first run (through Bloodbuzz) better than the second. |
DoofusWainwright
06.24.15 | even disregarding whether Bloodbuzz falls on Side A or B I still love Lemonworld, Conversation 16, England and Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks so much, and even Runaway isn't too shabby |
Funeralopolis
06.24.15 | "how is jane doe's second half better than the first?"
Like this:
6. The Broken Vow
7. Bitter and Then Some
8. Heaven in Her Arms
9. Phoenix in Flight
10. Phoenix in Flames
11. Thaw
12. Jane Doe
is better than:
1. Concubine
2. Fault and Fracture
3. Distance and Meaning
4. Hell to Pay
5. Homewrecker |
Artuma
06.24.15 | jane doe's first half is the mother of all first halves |
theBoneyKing
06.24.15 | "even disregarding whether Bloodbuzz falls on Side A or B I still love Lemonworld, Conversation 16, England and Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks so much, and even Runaway isn't too shabby"
I mean I 5 that album so I love the whole thing, but Runaway is easily my least favorite so I kind of have to say that side A > side B |
Tyler.
06.24.15 | jane doe's first half is the mother of all first halves
Yeah first halve is incredible |
TheMagicalBlender
06.24.15 | Woodkid - The Golden Age |
KrazyKris
06.24.15 | Jeff Buckley - Grace
Joy Division - Closer |
altertide0
06.24.15 | "Joy Division - Closer" -+1, forgot about this one. First haf is nice but the second is incredible |
BeneaththeDarkOcean
06.24.15 | Dream Theater's Images and Words maybe? My favorite album of all time, but I may give the second half slight preference to the first half. Let's see...
Second half: Metropolis Pt. 1, Under a Glass Moon, Wait for Sleep, Learning to Live
First half: Pull Me Under, Another Day, Take the Time, Surrounded
I rest my case. |
NordicMindset
06.24.15 | Fantastic Planet |
NordicMindset
06.24.15 | Second half has Nurse, Stuck on You, Heliotropic, Another Space Song and Daylight |
Dylan620
06.24.15 | Soundgarden - King Animal
First five songs are good but the subsequent stretch contains some of their finest work ("Bones of Birds," "Taree," and "Eyelid's Mouth" especially)
Jeff Buckley - Grace [2] for "Lover, You Should've Come Over" alone |
Ocean of Noise
06.24.15 | The National's Alligator belongs in this list hard |
theBoneyKing
06.24.15 | Alligator [2] |
Ocean of Noise
06.24.15 | also We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes by DCFC though people are less likely to know that one... |
Dylan620
06.24.15 | Alligator [3]
"Lit Up" and "Looking for Astronauts" are cool but they bow down to "All the Wine," "The Geese of Beverly Road," "City Middle," and "Mr. November" |
Dylan620
06.24.15 | Third Eye Blind's self-titled could work too... the first half is more consistent, but the second half boasts the closing three-song stretch to end all closing three-song stretches ("The Background," "God of Wine," and my favorite song of all time, "Motorcycle Drive By") |
barcafan21
06.24.15 | solid list
alligator for sure, the last three tracks are gold
