Insurrection
07.20.15 | been rewatching the series to prepare myself for the comeback
p.s. my favorite episode of all time is Paper Hearts |
grannypantys
07.20.15 | 11&12 are number 1 in my corazón |
Hyperion1001
07.20.15 | my favorite one was where they went to the mutant carnival trailer park and that guys siamese mutant twin was attacking people. |
Let
07.20.15 | Grotesque rules yeah. My fav is prob Post-Modern Prometheus, but I still have more seasons and the movies to watch |
bloc
07.20.15 | Just started watching this show on Netflix last month for the first time, I'm liking it a lot |
TheGreatQ
07.20.15 | 4 is great, really is underrated. |
Insurrection
07.20.15 | @hype that's Humbug, another great one |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.20.15 | Agree with 9, that's a good one |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.20.15 | Also D.P.O. is entertaining |
Insurrection
07.20.15 | young Giovanni ribisi and jack black ftw |
DanielNightLewis
07.20.15 | Firewalker is one of my favourites, there are so many to choose from though! |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | where's yoyo when you need him |
Snake.
07.21.15 | is this show coming back or something like why is everybody suddenly obsessed with this show |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | yes it is and everyone should be obsessed with it because its a goat show |
YoYoMancuso
07.21.15 | Hey Insurrection!
A lot of these are among my all-time favs, 18 being the greatest episode of the entire show imo. Feeling a rewatch coming on |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | yo yoyo, im watching it in full for the first time now (before i mainly saw motw eps from seasons 1-4 and a select few from 5-7), currently on s4 and the myth arc is getting insane. Musings of the CSM was fucking brilliant |
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | re-watching it too although skipping the crappy episodes and largely focusing on the important ones due to time constraints so I'll probably inevitably skip some of these - will probably never re-watch it in full again :-(
but yeah 1 and 15 are two of the all-time best, One Breath is beautiful (although hardly underrated, it's the fave of most of the creative team of the show), and Die Hand is one of the few episodes that's legitimately scary even without nostalgia. The left turn in the second half of that episode is fucking insane
would like to add War of the Coprohages (Darin's weakest script but still witty af), Little Green Men and Dod Kalm |
jmnewcomer18
07.21.15 | home |
YoYoMancuso
07.21.15 | Season 2 is by far the most horrifying season haha. The fluke worm, Duane Barry, the weird serial killer who carved words into people's chests, Donnie Pfaster, the satanic substitute teacher, that guy who emerges from Scully's hand, the freaky twin who jumps out of his conjoined brother's rib cage, the demon twin, the disgusting boil plague and the cannibalistic chicken company.
A lot of people think the mytharc trails off around when the black oil starts for some reason. It's actually really strong until about season 7. |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | 'that guy who emerges from Scully's hand'
this is the only one i dont remember lol, which one was that?
season 2 also has the best myth arc episodes of the series imo - Colony/End Game and Anasazi. most seasons have some great scares tho. Home is still disturbing as fuck, season 1 had Beyond the Sea, Ice, and Tooms which were creepy as hell, 3 had Grotesque which is like straight up gothic horror, 4 has Sanguinarium probably the most graphic/gory episode of the series, 5 had Detour and Chinga (predators and a killer doll) etc.
seasons 2 and 3 are my favorites as a whole. what ive seen from season 6 is amazing as well. i just love how they can have an episode thats silly and hysterical (Syzygy) then the next is literally Grotesque, and both are brilliant for what they are |
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | Dunno why people always tout Home as best/most underrated episode like it's literally just gore for the sake of gore. it's fun and well executed for what it is but stop pretending it's a classic ffs
Beyond the Sea is my second all-time favourite episode tbh brings the feels
And yea Colony/End Game might be all-time greatest mytharc eps along with Duane Berry/Ascension, love when they mix in other genres with the sci-fi like hostage situations (DB) and action romps (Nisei/731).
Honestly the mythos is very solid up to and including the first movie but it really trails off and around series 6 and pretty much goes to the gutter in the subsequent ones. 6 7 and 8 still some fantastic MOTW's though |
YoYoMancuso
07.21.15 | Home is super classic
Redux II is unquestionably my fav mytharc episode |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Good list, 1 and 9 rule. |
jmnewcomer18
07.21.15 | "Dunno why people always tout Home as best/most underrated episode like it's literally just gore for the sake of gore. it's fun and well executed for what it is but stop pretending it's a classic ffs"
BECAUSE OPINIONS ROWAN
|
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | classic in the way that it foregoes any subtlety, wit or character development for the sake of memorability
Afraid I don't remember Chimera at all |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | It is a nice change of variety tbh Rowan, I must admit. It's probably one of my higher rated episodes, but I wouldn't call it classic. |
YoYoMancuso
07.21.15 | I had a list of every XF episode ranked back in the day during one of my rewatches don't know what happened to it
Chimera involves some sort of bird creature if i remember correctly |
Trundle
07.21.15 | show rules |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Want to talk about underrated, let's talk about how underrated John Doggett is! |
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | yea Doggett is a great character, didn't get enough development in his time but certainly a great option for replacement Mulder and Robert Patrick is a fookin' badass
Reyes sucks |
jmnewcomer18
07.21.15 | home |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | i think home is a classic cause its so ballsy for a scifi show and they executed it perfectly. its basically the X files meets the texas chainsaw massacre, and its one of the few episodes that ill never ever forget. the mother, the bludgeoning scene, that song playing in the background... "it's so wonderful, wonderful"...creepy shit
and its probably the only episode in the series that is straight up no frills horror and i fucking love it for that |
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | subtle horror > balls out horror in almost every instance ever tho
I mean Irresistible is more unsettling than Home ever was |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | true, but home isnt so much unsettling as it is disturbing and really stuck with me. mind you i saw it when i was a kid when my dad was getting me into the show, but i was fascinated by it and it probably has a lot to do with why im a horror fanatic now
sanguinarium is more shock horror if anything, its just lots of blood and gore for the sake of it. home actually has narrative and believability, which makes it all the more chilling. also loved the ambiguous ending
but i can appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea |
Rowan5215
07.21.15 | fair enough I don't dislike Home just sick of everyone touting it as a classic when they can do far more with far less in eps like Irresistible, Unruhe, Ice etc |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | x files is just one of those shows that can nail any genre they want imo. bad blood and small potatoes are comedy gold, one breath is dramatic as a mother, dont even have to get started on mystery/scifi/horror/thriller. its refreshing when a show can be so diverse yet have such grounded and interesting characters |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | "Reyes sucks"
I actually didn't mind her. She grew on me in season 9. It's a real shame so much was happening behind the scenes around that time. Season 9 sucked for the most part, but Doggett and Reyes were doing a fantastic job of holding the show up; if the writing wasn't so inconsistent and messy, the two would have done a great job taking over the show. And season 8 is criminally underrated, too. |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Jose Chung's From Outer Space is in my top 5 ever episodes, funny and very well written. |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Season 7 was a piece of shit imo, by far the weakest season for me.
|
Insurrection
07.21.15 | the only ones ive seen from s7 are hungry (which i liked), millennium (eh), orison (very good), x-cops (awesome), brand x (okay), and je souhaite (one of my favs)
oh and first person shooter i remember being hysterically bad |
TalonsOfFire
07.21.15 | Yeah season 9 wasn't bad but definitely the weakest, and as far as I'm concerned the mythology ended with Two Fathers/One Son, probably my all time favorite TV episode(s).
I've been watching this series on and off for about half of my life now, seen most of the stand-alone episodes and will probably spend some of the summer watching more.
Seasons 5 and 6 are probably the most consistently amazing, but 4 had a lot of great variety. Everything from Small Potatoes to Home lol |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | the only one from season 9 i saw was the burt reynolds one which was... interesting |
TalonsOfFire
07.21.15 | Sometimes this show seems like The Twilight Zone on acid |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | the main difference between them is TZ is an anthology and X files isnt, but yea theyre both god tier scifi shows. Outer Limits is a lot like TZ too |
mifzal
07.21.15 | That show was dope |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | 9 just lacked any focus, that was its only drawback. 7 just had some of the worst episode ideas ever. The FPS episode was just like wtf????? |
TalonsOfFire
07.21.15 | 7 was also when the mythology got in a major rut. Season 8 was great however. Since everyone ranks everything on this site, seasons: 5=6>3>2>4>1>8>7>9 |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | gamer was so bad except the michael c. hall dance scene
as for seasons, 3 > 2 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 1, and season 1 is like a 9/10 for me so ya /fanboy |
TalonsOfFire
07.21.15 | Agreed on Season 1, it's definitely the most subtle. Nothing got too insane yet, and the mythology episodes especially really worked due to how mysterious and intriguing they were in introducing everything. |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Wasn't massive on 6 either tbh, but there's some great episodes on there still. 1-5 are perfect, with 8 close to them. |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | 6 has some of the coolest episodes of the series imo. Dreamland, Triangle, Field Trip, Drive, Monday, Arcadia (top 5 episode for me). again i havent seen the myth arc episodes that season but it feels like the most experimental the show has ever been |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Yeah 6 had some really good ones ins, but it's when the show started to lag a little imo. I can't fully remember but wasn't 6 the one that had the ghost that stole Christmas? Just garbage. |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | the worst episode ive seen so far is teso dos bichos. but it did have mulders best line of the series
"follow that rat!"
fearful symmetry with the elephant and mulder talking to a fucking gorilla was bad too |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Haha yeah, it just has some obscure moments. 7 is where it goes full retard. So have you not seen 8-9? Or you working up to it? |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.21.15 | How The Ghosts Stole Christmas is very good wtf |
DrGonzo1937
07.21.15 | Really hope that was a joke lol |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.21.15 | Honestly I would say season 6 is the most consistent season |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.21.15 | Not a joke at all. |
Insurrection
07.21.15 | nah i haven't seen 8 and 9. the only eps i saw from them is via negativa, the gift, and improbable (i think that's the burt reynolds one) |
porcupinetheater
07.22.15 | Darkness Falls was always one of my favorites, but it was also the first one I ever saw when I was like 7 or 8 and it freaked the living shit out of me, so there might be some crazy nostalgia bias in there. |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | i always thought darkness falls was considered one of the best. its one of the first times mulder and scully are in actual danger and i loved how it revolved around nature instead of the usual alien stuff
saw teliko yesterday. i didnt think it was terrible, just a by the numbers motw with a dumb MO and a pathetic attempt at a new tagline. seriously "deceive, inveigle, obfuscate" may be the least catchy group of words ever |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | Improbable is the only episode I would recommend in good faith from S9, very enjoyable concept
Teso Dos Bichos is objectively the worst episode ever but at least it's enjoyably awful and not just mind-numbingly boring like S9. I actually recommend watching it to everyone who's watching through the series just so they can experience the cat scene
but yea Darkness Falls gets a bit of flak but I always loved it - that ending in the government facility is genuinely unnerving
"but what if it doesn't work?"
"that is not an option, Mr. Mulder." |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | just saw leanord betts. that last confrontation with scully was intense, very unique for a motw |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | one of my mum's favourite episodes lol, crazy stuff
I'm up to S3 now and I would have skipped Syzygy if you didn't have it on here but I decided to give it a shot - enjoyed it, ty |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | i loved mulder in that episode
"this might not be the best time to say but someone is wearing my favorite perfume" |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | "I just wasn't sure if your little feet could reach the pedals" is an all-time Mulder line |
DinosaurJones
07.22.15 | I haven't watched this show in over a decade, and don't remember anything about it except for the theme music. Should I get into it? |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | yes |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | absolutely |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | indubitably |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | also one more thing I'd add to this list personally ins - En Ami
that one is subtle, tense, riveting and shocking all in one go, gives us CSM like we've never seen him before, and is probably the last great character episode imo |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | what season is that from? i dont think ive seen it
another myth arc episode i loved was paper clip. skinner putting CSM in his place |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | season 7 I believe, definitely watch it next up it's brilliant
Paper Clip is fantastic and probably one of the best mytharc episodes. TIME FOR YOU TO PUCKER UP AND KISS MY ASS
although the resolution kinda annoys me cos it's like, if there's now hundreds of Navajo people across the country who've memorised the contents of the secret government files, what's to stop Mulder just driving on out there and asking one of them? bit of a badly drawn conclusion |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | that's...a good question lol
i think my favorite CSM confrontation was when mulder when to his house (i think it was one breath) and pulled a gun on him and CSM was like
"don't threaten me, mulder. ive watched presidents die" |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | That's probably my single favourite scene from the show tbh the mythology could do nothing but go downhill from that one point
mulder lowers the gun and CSM's just like "...and that's why I'll win"
and it's fucking SO GOOD |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | dammit now i want to see that episode again. that was also the first time we saw CSM outside the fbi building iirc, and in his own house no less which made it all the more intense
now that i think about it almost all my favorite scenes involve mulder getting really emotional. the scene in Paper Hearts when the child killer is explaining what happened to mulder's sister was so chilling and david duchovny was just flawless |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | you see him briefly in an operating room in I think Young at Heart when the killer is dying (very vague memory of that one) it's unclear whether that's an in-building room or an outside hospital
but yeah either way One Breath was the first time they started adding dimensions to CSM instead of him just being a cipher for the mystery which is where it really started gettin good
David can actually sell the emotional scenes very well - like when he breaks down crying in One Breath after giving up, that shit is intense - but he's either rarely given the material or rarely goes the distance to do it. he's not bad the rest of the time but apart from the comedy lines which he relishes he's fairly one-note |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | that's what i love about him though. all he cares about is finding the truth, theres really nothing more to his personality other than uncovering mysteries from what happened to his sister and since that scarred him when he was a child it makes sense that he would be emotionally detached as an adult. the only times he gets vulnerable are when his family or scully are in danger. the scene of him going to his dad's house and apologizing and crying was painful to watch (i forget which episode it was, season 2 i think) and when his mom was in the hospital in the season 3 finale, i think its a testament to his character that he values family so much and is otherwise fairly distant
he almost always spits out dry sarcasm at some of the most inappropriate times too, like in leonard betts when they were cutting up his decapitated head mulder was like "let's get a slice to go"
he's always been one of my favorite TV characters and david duchovny is my mancruch so i can gush about him all day lol |
Rowan5215
07.22.15 | yeah he rules but Duchovny definitely has a tendency to be too familiar with the role and not push himself enough unless he's really given the impetus - I definitely think he's a good actor though
to an extent you can rationalise his mental scarring from childhood but honestly Duchovny doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who gets that deep into a character, I think he tends to stay on the surface level of droll sarcasm a little too much
I fucking LOVE all his encounters with Krycek though, you can just see in their eyes how much they fucking despise each other. guy who played Krycek was a terrific actor |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | yeah i love the episode where theyre forced to work together and they get into a fight and mulders like "stupid ass haircut!" or something |
Insurrection
07.22.15 | btw you should see californication if you havent yet. duchovny is awesome in that and its basically his coolness and sarcasm amplified to 100 |
grannypantys
07.23.15 | poor natives on Detour
in that ep mulder and scully might be the bad guys. |
Insurrection
07.25.15 | just saw the season 4 finale through redux II. all i have to say is holy shit |
Rowan5215
07.25.15 | I saw some Californication when I was younger ins, remember laughing my fucking arse off but I can't recall any of the actual jokes. Will give er a runthrough sometimes
my fave episodes are usually the ones where Mulder and Scully are taken out of their set roles in the show - eg Beyond the Sea (reversing the skeptic/believer roles), Die Hand (they're pretty much just bystanders who fail to make any impact), Wetwired with Scully effectively taking the antagonist role, etc etc |
YoYoMancuso
07.25.15 | I would probably put How The Ghosts Stole Christmas in my top 20 stop hating |
Insurrection
07.25.15 | 'poor natives on Detour
in that ep mulder and scully might be the bad guys.'
most of them survived though, i was surprised. i like episodes like that where mulder and scully are clearly out of their element |
YoYoMancuso
07.25.15 | the ending of that episode gives me so many chills |
Insurrection
07.26.15 | detour is straight up predator territory and they nailed it imo. also i just saw post-modern prometheus again. that one gives me chills but on the whole other side of the spectrum. the tongue-in-cheek style, the black and white, and the music... such a beautiful episode |
EyesWideShut
07.26.15 | gonna check out a few of these, X-Files was a fav show back in the day.. I actually really like the episode Millennium with Lance Henriksen gust starring..
I dig some of the later episodes with Robert Patrick too. |
AmericanFlagAsh
07.26.15 | I think Demons is one of the most underrated episodes. It's amazing. |
Insurrection
07.26.15 | chinga is another good one. not just because it has the best name ever
"i want to play" |
EyesWideShut
07.27.15 | haha i remember that one, that old lady gets killed by "hokey pokey" records |
Insurrection
07.29.15 | finishing up season 5 now (then is the first movie if im not mistaken?) so added a few more episodes.
i had never seen 'the pine bluff variant' before and it kinda blew me away. no supernatural elements or anything, just straight up thriller and espionage |
Insurrection
07.29.15 | really? i hope so cause ive heard lukewarm things about it. im just glad CSM is back |
grannypantys
07.29.15 | the first x files movie isn't bad
the second one is terrible |
ResidentNihilist
07.29.15 | the opening scene to gender bender is genuinely creepy but so well done. |
TalonsOfFire
07.29.15 | First X-Files movie is amazing and the second one is pretty disappointing, glad you're watching season 5 Andrew, it's one of the best. |
Insurrection
07.29.15 | yeah the last three episodes were excellent. idk how id rank the seasons now cause 2-6 are all fucking amazing, but i can say 5 is probably the most consistent cause there werent really any duds (christmas carol/emily was pretty iffy tho)
gonna see the movie tonight |
Insurrection
07.31.15 | fight the future was pretty sweet. also i liked the christmas episode :/ i thought it was cute |
Rowan5215
07.31.15 | I Want to Believe is better than most of S9 though
I mean for what it is it's just an inoffensively boring, mediocre movie where they solve a crime
Fight the Future on the other hand is mint and has one of the best soundtracks of all time |
Rowan5215
07.31.15 | it's not even badly written or performed I don't see the immediate hate that everyone seems to greet it with. most people probably haven't even seen it
I was more talking about the soundtrack they released with it not the in-movie score but ofc Snow kills it |
Rowan5215
07.31.15 | billy connolly kills in in that role tho |
EyesWideShut
07.31.15 | xzibit killed that role tbh |
Insurrection
08.01.15 | the bruce campbell episode was awesome. literally the perfect role for him to play |
EyesWideShut
08.01.15 | what about Driven with Bryan Cranston with that live police chase shot |
Rowan5215
08.01.15 | Drive is definitely one of the greatest. That ending is brutal
Improbable is my only standout from S9. Terrific final shot |
YoYoMancuso
08.01.15 | awesome update to the list man. Zero Sum is one of my all-time favorites, everything involving the bees carrying that alien crap is just nightmare fuel |
Insurrection
08.01.15 | i was wondering what happened to the bees but the movie answered that for me. the only thing that wouldve made that bee scene better is if nic cage himself was there
and yea drive is amazing. one of the few episodes mulder actually bonds with a one-off character and you actually felt for him |
Rowan5215
08.05.15 | I know I keep bumping this but fuck me Avatar hit pretty hard when I watched it again, beautifully underrated episode |
YoYoMancuso
08.05.15 | X-Files movie wasn't actually that bad, I'd give it a solid 7.5/10
Sequel was absolute balls though |
Rowan5215
08.05.15 | think the thing for me is that some of my fave X-Files are the ones that trick you into thinking they're something they're not and then do a left turn halfway through, which is why I love that final stretch of S3 so goddamn much
Avatar - think it's gonna be a succubus haunting tale but it's actually all CSM orchestrating from the shadows (also some beautiful scenes with Skinner and his wife)
Quaghire - you think it's gonna be a monster hunt but it's really a character investigation of Mulder and Scully and the monster's actually just a crocodile
Wetwired - looks like an isolated case of spookiness but then Scully gets taken by it, the second half of the episode is Mulder chasing her and then failing to stop the criminals who were of course controlled by CSM |
Rowan5215
08.05.15 | Avatar especially is just supremely well set-up |
YoYoMancuso
08.05.15 | Quagmire and Wetwired are 2 of my all-time favorites
@Row: but then Big Blue shows up in the last 2 seconds of the episode which is one of my favorite XF endings |
Rowan5215
08.05.15 | yeah that's superb too, such a cheeky nod to the viewers |
Insurrection
08.08.15 | agreed about the end of quagmire. i love those ambiguous endings where the "threat" is still out there. the host did that too with flukeman iirc, hope he makes an appearance in the new series
just started season 8 yesterday. surprised at how great it is so far |
Rowan5215
08.08.15 | you see a small reference to Flukeman in Pusher as well, Modell's reading a newspaper at the start and you quickly see something about "creature washed up in something something town" so yeah it's still out there for sure
s8 is very solid and some total gems in there, if I recall correctly Via Negativa is one that's just fuckin great |
Insurrection
08.08.15 | redrum was excellent. another episode told from the pov of the protagonist and not the agents, and seeing danny trejo is always a good thing |
Rowan5215
08.08.15 | is that the one with Doggett's friend who's living life backwards from the day his wife died? yeah that's killer (literally) |
Insurrection
08.08.15 | yessir. the closing monologue was chilling |
Insurrection
08.08.15 | yeah via negativa was literally nightmare fuel. i like how now doggett is questioning his sanity cause this was basically his first solo x-file case. it feels like the first step for him in believing the paranormal
on a side note, definitely updating this list when i finish the series |
Rowan5215
08.08.15 | I remember very little from 7-9 so yea pls do for my benefit
wish Doggett had gotten more development than he did but he was still a gr8 character. Robert Patrick is a beast |
Insurrection
08.10.15 | love the episode where mulder and doggett are forced to work together. sadly it appears that its the only one :| |
Insurrection
08.13.15 | well, it's over... season 9 wasnt that bad. still an above average detective show but not in the same league as the others. now all that's left is the xzibit movie
/updated list
also i know it isnt underrated but the season 8 finale was incredible |
Insurrection
08.13.15 | god the case is so fucking boring. everything feels perfunctory i mean really mulder forgetting that his sister died?
I did like the scene of Mulder and Scully discussing a case in bed that was funny, but ive totally lost interest at this point. It's like a CSI Miami episode with two paranormal experts wasting their time |
Rowan5215
08.13.15 | don't remember most of the new adds but Via and John Doe are dope ye |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | on another note, all things is the worst x file episode and one of the worst episodes of anything ever |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | not even close to either tbh I respect it's bravery |
YoYoMancuso
08.17.15 | Redrum is so awesome, Dyson and the T-1000 reunited |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | what do you think is worse then? the only one that comes close for me is teso dos bichos |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | Teso Dos Bichos, Born Again (I think it's called) from S1, Fearful Symmetry, Schizogeny, almost all of S9 |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | true fearful symmetry and the other animal one (alpha i think) are horrendous.
and dont get me wrong i also respect all things cause it was gillian anderson's first stab at writing/directing and what she tried for was bold, but perhaps too bold for the X files cause it really wasn't an X file episode. at least it didnt feel like one to me |

08.17.15 | Alpha was solid fun with some decent scares, Fearful Symmetry just doesn't know what it wants to be and it fails so hard
You're not wrong but too bold does not equate to worst episode of anything ever for me. It's not an X-File at all but there's something beautiful about it |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | i was just exaggerating, it was just painful to watch for me. im sure as its own episode it works but it sticks out like a sore thumb when you marathon it |
Asdfp277
08.17.15 | where's home |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | ^ stop |
Asdfp277
08.17.15 | wasn't home like a controversial episode of the x-files or something, but it was good
about inbreeding, incest, and rape I think |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | yes I'm just so sick of the "where's home" comments like seriously cool it |
Asdfp277
08.17.15 | welp sorry |
EyesWideShut
08.17.15 | Home is a stone cold classic.. its far from underrated..
Beyond The Sea is easily one of my fav episodes, Brad Dourif killed it. |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | not really rape cause the mother was consenting to fucking her sons. i mean you can argue that cause she was a quadriplegic she didnt have much choice but she was practically begging for it at the end |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | Beyond the Sea is most definitively a classic, Home is if anything overrated to hell |
EyesWideShut
08.17.15 | The Peacock boyz driving the pimped out caddie |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | blasting johnny mathis like straight up ballers |
EyesWideShut
08.17.15 | that poor sheriff didnt stand a chance.. lucky they didnt pull a drive by firing muskets |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | going down the list again i gotta say providence was the biggest shitpile i remember. a two parter with nothing but scully crying and baby jesus |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | don't remember it but that did remind me how much I despise Gender Bender |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | aw i love that one. the end is so creepy |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | I hate the ending. They were aliens all along? It's the X-Files equivalent of "it was all a dream." Plus, Scully almost getting raped is one of the most questionable choices they ever made in the show |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | it can't be like it was all a dream because everything happened. it's just the eeriness that this religious group recognized in the community were alien colonists all along and fled when their cover was breached |
Rowan5215
08.17.15 | No I mean it's like the it's all a dream because it's such a lazy, copout ending that does no justice to what came before |
Insurrection
08.17.15 | idk i thought it was kinda clever. you wanna talk cop out endings, dod kalm has the most insane deus ex machina ive ever seen |
EyesWideShut
08.20.15 | hey dude do you know the name of the episode with that southern snake handling preacher? i think it was from the latter seasons. |
JohnWick
08.20.15 | Field Trip, Monday, Roadrunners, and Via Negativa are all awesome underrated episodes. I feel like nobody ever talks about those. They're some of my favorites of the entire show. |
YoYoMancuso
08.20.15 | Signs And Wonders is the snake handling one. I actually like it
Dod Kalm is really solid but the ending is lazy I agree |
Rowan5215
08.21.15 | Dod Kalm has a dodgy ending but the rest of it puts it well above Gender Bender and the like. Scully's final monologue is one of the show's best moments
Don't remember Signs and Wonders at all |
YoYoMancuso
08.21.15 | how do you not remember the one where the girl GIVES BIRTH TO SERPENTS |
Insurrection
08.24.15 | thats the only part of the episode i remember. also mulder getting into a fight with snakes
didnt care for it much tbh. none of the animal ones did anything for me |
EyesWideShut
08.24.15 | i liked the episode where Donny escapes from prison and actually turns into the devil. The last 15 mins were too tense. |
Insurrection
08.24.15 | yea that's orison. one of the scariest episodes for me |
